What You Need from Tabuk

  • Route: from Tabuk through Tayma, Hail and Qassim to Riyadh, then Al-Ahsa, then the Batha crossing facing Ghuwaifat.
  • Transit time: 4 to 6 days for furniture and general cargo, 3 to 5 days for cars, and 24 to 48 hours by air.
  • Prices from: parcel SAR 110, carton SAR 140, room of furniture SAR 1,300, shared sedan SAR 1,100.
  • Consolidation: shipments from Duba, Al Wajh, Tayma, Umluj and Haql are gathered in Tabuk before the truck leaves.
  • Collection: from Tabuk districts, farms and outlying areas by prior appointment.

Your shipment from Tabuk leaves from the far north-west of the Kingdom and crosses it by road, inland and then east, which is why it needs more days than a shipment from Riyadh or Dammam. Small parcels are quicker than the rest, moving in 48 to 72 hours when they join a departure that is leaving soon. A parcel up to 5 kg starts from SAR 110 and a bag up to 30 kg from SAR 230, and the final figure comes from an itemised quote once we know the district, the size of the load and the emirate it is going to.

Tabuk is not like other cities when it comes to shipping. It is the gateway to the north-west, and people come in from Al Wajh, Duba, Tayma, Umluj and Haql because services gather here. So we treat Tabuk as a real consolidation point rather than somewhere we simply collect from. This page explains how that works, how we reach its districts, and how things change depending on whether you are sending furniture, a car or commercial goods.

The route from Tabuk to the UAE

The only land crossing between the Kingdom and the UAE is Batha, facing Ghuwaifat on the Emirati side. There is no shorter road from Tabuk, so the truck leaves the city heading south and east through Tayma to Hail, passes Qassim on the way to Riyadh, then continues from Riyadh to Al-Ahsa and on to Batha. In other words, the shipment crosses the whole Kingdom from the north-west corner to the south-east, which is why Tabuk is one of the cities farthest from the crossing.

On the Saudi side, clearance runs through the Fasah platform of ZATCA. Once across, the shipment enters the UAE and, if it is going to Dubai, is processed under Dubai Customs’ Mirsal 2 system. The Al Rahwan team follows these steps with the customs broker, so nothing depends on you after you hand the shipment over. What matters is knowing that the trip from Tabuk is several days longer than from Riyadh or Dammam, and that this gap is normal and not a delay.

From Tabuk to Expected delivery Note
Abu Dhabi and Al Ain 4 to 6 days Closest to the Ghuwaifat crossing
Dubai 4 to 6 days The most requested destination from Tabuk
Sharjah and Ajman 4 to 6 days Arrives about half a day after Dubai
Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah 5 to 6 days Usually needs an extra delivery leg from Dubai

A loaded truck leaving Tabuk on the eastern road between the mountains

The trip also differs a little between winter and summer. Tabuk nights are cold, and some sensitive items, such as liquids and delicate electronics, can be affected by the chill before loading, while in summer the heat on the inland road is fierce. So we choose covers and packing to suit the season, and we give you a realistic window rather than a promise to the hour.

How the days run between collection and delivery

Many people ask: what happens to my shipment after it leaves my home? The rough picture is below. It is an estimate and not a commitment to the hour, because a long road is governed by factors outside any company’s control.

Stage What happens
Day 1 The shipment is collected in Tabuk, inventoried, photographed and combined with the city’s other shipments on the same departure.
Days 2 and 3 The truck crosses Tayma, Hail and Qassim to reach Riyadh, with rest breaks for the drivers and checks on the load straps.
Day 4 Riyadh to Al-Ahsa and then Batha, with exit from the Kingdom and entry into the UAE completed.
Days 5 and 6 Distribution to the destination emirate and delivery at the door, with the pieces checked on arrival.

The trip can be a day shorter if the shipment is small and joins a departure that is leaving soon, and a day longer if the destination is in the northern emirates or the border is busy. Either way we tell you where the shipment is, and we do not leave you guessing.

Tabuk districts we collect from

Tabuk’s districts fall into the newer northern side with Al Wurud and Al Muruj, the older central districts such as Al Faisaliyah and Al Mahrajan, and the southern and eastern edges of the city where warehouses and farms are found. Each area is collected differently, and we send the driver and loading crew according to what we know about the district and the width of its streets.

Area Districts Type of collection
North Tabuk Al Wurud, Al Muruj, Sultanah Modern villas and flats, wide streets
Central Tabuk Al Faisaliyah, Al Mahrajan, As Sulaymaniyah Older houses and family flats, narrower streets
East and south Tabuk Ar Rawdah, An Nahdah, Al Muntazah, As Salman Residential, commercial and shops
Outskirts and farms Farms of Tabuk and the roads around the city By appointment, coordinated with the farm owner
Industrial area and warehouses Edges of the city near the highways Commercial goods and pallets
Northern districtsThe streets are wide, so the big truck can pull up near the door and loading is usually done in a day.
Central districtsWe check the street width before arriving, and if it is narrow we use a small vehicle to carry items out to the truck.
Farms and outskirtsWe agree the entry point in advance, since some dirt tracks are not suitable for a heavy truck in every condition.

Tabuk as a consolidation point for the north-west

Many people in Al Wajh, Duba, Tayma, Umluj and Haql find it hard to arrange collection, and a small parcel does not justify a whole truck. So we arrange for these shipments to reach Tabuk, or we collect them from where they are by appointment, then combine them with the city’s other shipments so they leave on a single run. That lowers the cost for everyone, and it means someone living outside Tabuk is not treated as a second-class customer.

Collection day in Tabuk: what to expect

Once the date is agreed, the collection supervisor calls about an hour before arriving to confirm the address and where the truck can stop. The crew arrives with packing materials, starts with the big, heavy pieces and finishes with the small items that go into cartons. Everything is then entered on an inventory list, the pieces are photographed before loading, and you are given a copy of the list.

You can speed things up with a few simple steps, and none of them takes much effort:

  • Unplug electrical appliances some hours before the crew arrives, and empty the fridge and washing machine of water.
  • Take out valuables such as jewellery, official papers and cash, and keep them with you.
  • Leave the doorway and the parking space in front of the house clear so the truck can stop close by.
  • Decide which pieces are not being shipped so they are not loaded by mistake.
  • Be there, or send someone to sign the inventory list on your behalf.

Shipping prices from Tabuk to the UAE

For Tabuk, Al Rahwan uses the same starting figures published for the UAE route, and does not add a surcharge just because the city is far away. Every figure in the tables below is a starting price, and an itemised quote sets the final number according to weight, volume, emirate, number of floors and ease of access.

Service Price from
Parcel up to 5 kg SAR 110
Carton up to 20 kg SAR 140
Bag or carton up to 30 kg SAR 230
Per kilo by volume SAR 9

To understand the figures properly: what pushes a price above the starting figure is the number of floors, how far the truck has to park from the door, plenty of heavy pieces such as big wooden wardrobes and appliance boxes, a request for dismantling and reassembly, and special packing for glass and paintings. What brings it down is a flexible date, joining a shared departure, preparing your belongings beforehand and combining the family’s shipments. So never compare one price with another without checking that the same items are included in both.

Furniture moving Price from
Room or studio SAR 1,300
Small flat SAR 2,500
Full flat SAR 4,100
Villa SAR 8,300
Car Price from
Sedan on a shared carrier SAR 1,100
Sedan on an open flatbed SAR 1,650
SUV on a shared carrier SAR 1,400
SUV on an open flatbed SAR 2,050
Luxury car in an enclosed carrier SAR 2,300
Commercial shipping Price from
One pallet SAR 740
20-foot container SAR 2,300
40-foot container SAR 3,500
Full trailer (about 15 m) SAR 6,500

How much does shipping from Tabuk to the UAE cost? It starts from SAR 110 for a parcel, SAR 140 for a carton, SAR 1,300 for a room of furniture, SAR 1,100 for a sedan and SAR 740 for a commercial pallet. A worked example: a family in Al Muruj moving a small flat and a sedan to Dubai; the flat starts from SAR 2,500 and the sedan on a shared carrier from SAR 1,100, so the whole order starts from SAR 3,600, and the quote then adds lines for floors or dismantling and reassembly if needed. Another example: a student sending 3 cartons of up to 20 kg each to Sharjah, which start from SAR 420.

Moving furniture from Tabuk to the UAE

Most people leaving Tabuk for the UAE are either employees who have moved there for work or families who have decided to settle closer to relatives. Homes in Tabuk are mostly villas, standalone floors and flats in low-rise blocks, which makes things easier than in the towers of the big cities. We rarely need a booked service lift, but we do watch for narrow internal staircases in multi-storey homes.

The Al Rahwan crew begins with a visit or a video call to look at the big pieces: bedrooms, living-room sets, the kitchen and the appliances. Then it decides what gets dismantled and reassembled and what is wrapped whole. The job needs extra care because the shipment will cover the longest road in the Kingdom, so we treat vibration as a core factor, not a word in a contract.

  1. We dismantle beds and large wardrobes and note where every screw goes in a bag taped to the piece.
  2. We wrap wooden surfaces and doors in foam and then an insulating cover.
  3. We pack glass, mirrors and screens in separate boxes or support panels.
  4. We fill the gaps in the truck with padding and straps, so nothing shifts over a distance far greater than a city move.
  5. We photograph and number the contents before closing, which makes delivery and assembly in the UAE easier.

For families living on farms or in houses on the outskirts, collection sometimes includes outdoor pieces such as shades and garden seating. We can ship them, but we need to know in advance so we can set aside space and use packing that stands up to dust.

Before the packing crew arrives

A little preparation saves time and money. Pieces that have been emptied beforehand are wrapped faster, and wardrobes with nothing inside are lighter and less likely to be damaged. If your home has a large traditional majlis with big fitted units, an old wooden bookcase or a kitchen fixed to the wall, tell us at the start, because each is dismantled differently.

  • Empty drawers and cupboards and put the contents into numbered cartons.
  • Photograph valuable pieces before they are wrapped, and keep the photos with you.
  • Mark anything that is not being shipped with coloured tape so the crew leaves it alone.
  • Check the width of doors and stairways, since some large pieces will not come out without being dismantled.
  • Before the date, sell or donate anything you will not need in the UAE; every piece left behind cuts the volume and the cost.

Car shipping from Tabuk to the UAE

Your car does not make the journey on its own wheels: Al Rahwan loads it onto a specialist carrier and transported to the border and then within the UAE to the city you choose; no driver takes it from Tabuk to Dubai. That keeps the odometer reading, the tyres and the engine as they were, and cuts the risk on a long road. The car travels covered and wrapped in a professional manner at the loading point.

In Tabuk we need to know two things: where you will hand the car over, and whether you need an earlier date. If your timing is flexible, the shared carrier costs less, since it gathers several cars and leaves when it is full. If you want an earlier date, the open flatbed takes your car alone. Luxury and classic cars are best placed on the enclosed carrier, which protects them from dust and flying gravel.

Car type Shared Open flatbed Enclosed
Sedan 1,100 1,650 —
SUV 1,400 2,050 —
Luxury or classic — — 2,300

Before handing the car over, photograph it from every side, leave as few personal items in it as possible and keep a copy of the registration. Mind the fuel level too, since about a quarter of a tank is enough. If the car is modified or has extra parts fitted, tell us from the start, because that affects the choice of carrier and the dimensions.

When you receive the car in the UAE, inspect it by eye and with photos before signing: compare its condition with the collection photos from Tabuk and look at the glass, mirrors and tyres. Anything that shows up at that moment is recorded with you on the delivery note, because noting it on the spot is far easier than discovering it days later. Registering and licensing the car in the UAE is handled by authorities there; we point you in the right direction, but we do not do it on your behalf.

Cartons and personal belongings

Anyone leaving Tabuk to study or work in the UAE rarely needs a full move; a few cartons and bags will do. These are brought to the Al Rahwan office in Tabuk or collected from your door, and join the nearest departure. A carton starts from SAR 140, a small parcel from SAR 110 and a large bag from SAR 230. Because the trip is long, use a reinforced carton, seal it with wide tape and put a sheet listing the contents inside each one.

  • Clothes and blankets in sealed bags before they go into the carton.
  • Small appliances in their original boxes if you have them, otherwise with paper padding all round.
  • Perfumes and liquids in leak-proof bags, kept away from paper.
  • Fragile items on top and heavy ones at the bottom, without letting the carton get too heavy to lift.
  • The recipient’s name and phone number written on the outside of the carton.

Commercial shipping from Tabuk

The north-west has commercial and farming activity that needs moving: farm produce, foodstuffs, spare parts, supplies for restaurants and shops, and goods for shops and contractors. These loads call for a different arrangement from personal shipments, because they are measured in pallets and loads rather than cartons.

A single pallet starts from SAR 740, a 20-foot container from SAR 2,300, a 40-foot container from SAR 3,500 and a full trailer (about 15 metres) from SAR 6,500. An itemised quote sets the final figure according to the type of goods, their weight and the number of pallets. You will usually need a commercial invoice, a packing list and the importer’s details, and Al Rahwan sorts out the customs paperwork with the broker before the truck leaves. If your goods are sensitive to heat, tell us, because some products are not suited to summer transport without special arrangements.

PalletSuits medium quantities, travels with other loads and lowers your cost.
20 or 40-foot containerFor large consignments, carried by truck to the crossing.
Full trailerWhen your goods fill the truck and you want a departure that waits for no one.

Fresh farm produce and anything that spoils in heat is a separate conversation to have with us before booking. When the road takes several days, sensitive goods call for refrigeration and tightly controlled timing, and not every load suits a long overland trip. We tell you frankly what will work and what is better sent another way, before you pay anything.

Air freight from Tabuk to the UAE

Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Airport in Tabuk handles domestic and international flights, and Al Rahwan air shipments reach Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah from there or through other airports. If distance worries you, air is the option that turns four to six days into 24 to 48 hours. But it suits light, urgent items: documents, samples, small devices and critical spare parts. Furniture and cars are never sent by air.

How air freight weight is calculatedThe chargeable weight is the higher of the actual weight and (length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 6000). For example, a carton of 60 × 40 × 40 cm gives 96,000 ÷ 6000 = 16 kg volumetric, so if it actually weighs 9 kg it is charged as 16. We do not publish a fixed per-kilo price for air, because it varies with the airline route and schedule, so we send an itemised quote once we know the dimensions and destination.

Road or air: which suits you?

Question Road Air
Time from Tabuk 4 to 6 days 24 to 48 hours
Best suited to Furniture, cars, cartons, heavy goods Documents, samples, light devices
How weight is calculated Length × width × height ÷ 5000 Length × width × height ÷ 6000
Pricing Published starting prices by service Itemised quote once dimensions are known

The practical rule: if the shipment weighs no more than a few tens of kilograms and the deadline is tight, choose air; if it is larger or not urgent, road is far cheaper. Do not choose air simply because the distance is long, since distance does not change the fact that it costs more for large volumes.

Documents needed to ship from Tabuk to the UAE

What documents do you need to ship from Tabuk to the UAE? For an individual, a valid ID or iqama is usually enough, together with a list of the contents and a Fasah authorisation that lets the customs broker file the declaration on your behalf, plus the recipient’s details in the UAE and their mobile number. Commercial goods and cars need more, and Al Rahwan reviews your papers with you before loading day so the truck is not held at Batha over a missing sheet. Here is what is needed by type of shipment, under the regulations in force at the time of shipping:

Type of shipment Documents required Note
Personal luggage and cartons ID or iqama, a list of contents, a Fasah authorisation for the customs broker, the recipient’s details and mobile number List the contents precisely; a vague list makes the check at the crossing take longer.
Household furniture ID or iqama, a list of the pieces, a Fasah authorisation, the delivery address The inventory the Al Rahwan crew draws up on collection day can serve as the list of pieces.
Commercial goods Commercial registration, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin if requested, the importer’s details A GCC certificate of origin helps national products qualify for customs exemption.
Car Vehicle registration (istimara), the plates, an export certificate, the owner’s ID, a bank letter if the car is financed, an authorisation if the sender is not the owner Get the export certificate ready before the carrier date; a financed car cannot be exported without the bank’s consent.
Chilled food or medicines Personal or commercial papers as applicable, plus a permit or health certificate from the competent authority if requested Arrange these before booking, as some items need prior approval.

Customs at the Batha and Ghuwaifat crossings

Every road shipment from Tabuk to the UAE passes two customs points facing each other: Batha to leave the Kingdom and Ghuwaifat to enter the UAE. At Batha the broker files the export declaration on the Fasah platform, and the truck may be X-rayed or searched by hand; it then crosses to Ghuwaifat, where the import declaration is filed and the shipment is checked again before it is allowed on to its emirate. Al Rahwan handles these steps through brokers working at both crossings, so you do not need to travel from Tabuk or wait there.

Personal belongings and used furniture are usually treated differently from commercial goods. Commercial goods may attract customs duty and VAT depending on their origin, their value and the regulations in force at the time of shipping, while products of GCC origin with a certificate of origin benefit from the exemption under the GCC customs union. What delays a shipment at the crossing is rarely the duty; it is the paperwork: an invoice that does not match the contents, a list written in general terms such as “assorted items”, or a restricted item that was not declared. That is why Al Rahwan asks for a precise list before loading, and that alone shortens the wait at the crossing on many trips.

Prohibited and restricted items

Al Rahwan does not accept drugs, weapons, explosives, flammable materials, counterfeit goods or hazardous chemicals without a licence. Medicines, chilled food and large batteries need a permit or special handling, and concentrated perfumes have packing requirements. If you are unsure about an item, ask us before you pack it; that is cheaper than repacking at the warehouse.

Insuring your shipment from Tabuk

The road from Tabuk to the UAE is one of the longest overland routes in the Kingdom, so insurance is often the first thing people ask about. Al Rahwan offers optional cover for the declared value of the contents from loading in Tabuk to delivery in the UAE, shown in the quote as a separate line that is never added without your request. It is most useful for premium furniture, electrical appliances, cars and high-value goods.

For the cover to help when it matters, put an approximate value against each important piece on the inventory, keep photos of them before they are wrapped, and point out the pieces that need special packing or extra cover. On delivery, check the pieces before signing and record any remark on the delivery note, because a claim is based on what was recorded at that moment.

Tracking your shipment from Tabuk to the UAE

You do not lose track of your shipment once it leaves Tabuk. The Al Rahwan team sends you an update at each main stage: collection and inventory, the truck leaving Tabuk, arrival in Riyadh, passing the Batha crossing, entry through Ghuwaifat, and then the delivery slot in the destination emirate. Updates come by WhatsApp or by phone, and you can call 0568829975 at any time to ask where the shipment is and when it is expected.

Keep the order reference that comes with your quote. It links your shipment to the inventory and the photos, and it makes it easier for the recipient in the UAE to ask about it too if you are not the one receiving it.

Storage before shipping or after arrival

The date you leave Tabuk does not always match the date your home in the UAE is ready. Your lease in Tabuk may end before the new place in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is handed over, or the furniture may arrive while the recipient is still looking for a flat. For these cases Al Rahwan offers short-term storage on request: either before shipping, when the furniture is collected from your home in Tabuk and kept wrapped until the departure date, or after arrival, when the shipment is held until the recipient is ready and then delivered on a new date.

Pieces are stored wrapped and numbered just as they left the house, under the same inventory, and they are not opened or rearranged until delivery. Tell us you need storage when you book, with the rough duration and the type of pieces, so it can be included in the itemised quote.

Booking steps with Al Rahwan from Tabuk

  1. Send us the district, the type of shipment and the UAE city it is going to.
  2. We estimate the volume from photos or a video call, and visit the site if needed.
  3. You receive an itemised quote and an estimated collection date.
  4. We collect, pack, make an inventory of the contents and photograph them.
  5. The shipment travels via Hail and Qassim to Riyadh, then Al-Ahsa and Batha.
  6. Border procedures are completed and the shipment enters the UAE.
  7. We deliver to the recipient’s door and make sure it arrives in good condition.

To book or ask a question, call 0568829975 or message the same number on WhatsApp, or send your request through the quote form on the website. The Al Rahwan team takes requests every day from 7 am to 11 pm, and if you send photos of your belongings and the name of your district in the first message, your quote arrives sooner.

Delivery across the seven emirates

After Ghuwaifat the shipment heads directly to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, or to Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, then carries on north to Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Delivery to the emirates nearest the border is quicker, and the northern and eastern emirates can take a day longer. Al Rahwan puts the emirate and district in the quote so there is no surprise charge at delivery.

Where dismantling and reassembly were requested, the Al Rahwan crew in the UAE puts the beds and wardrobes back together and places each piece in its room according to the numbering applied in Tabuk, so the first night in the new home starts with the rooms ready.

To keep delivery smooth, prepare the recipient for two things: building access permission and a lift booking if the building requires them, and a place for the truck to stop near the entrance. In many UAE buildings the management must approve before furniture is brought in, and a late approval can delay unloading. If you send us the building name, the flat number and the recipient’s phone number before the shipment arrives, we book a suitable slot in advance.

How to calculate your road freight cost

For road freight we calculate volumetric weight by multiplying length by width by height in centimetres and dividing by 5000. Take a carton of 70 × 50 × 50 cm: 175,000 ÷ 5000 = 35 kg volumetric. If its actual weight is 12 kg, you are charged for 35, not 12, because the carton takes up more space than its weight suggests. Cutting empty space inside the carton and making it smaller lowers the figure directly.

The cheapest way to ship from Tabuk

  • Combine the family’s and friends’ shipments into one order rather than sending them separately.
  • Choose the shared departure if your date is flexible, as it costs least.
  • Drop cartons at our office if it is close to you instead of asking for door collection.
  • If you are in Al Wajh, Duba or Tayma, make use of the consolidation in Tabuk.
  • Pick the shared carrier for your car if you are not in a hurry.
  • Cut the volume with good packing and by dismantling pieces where you can.

Common mistakes when shipping from Tabuk

Relying on an exact dateThe distance is long, and it is better to plan around a window of days than a fixed hour.
Weak cartonsVibration on a long road crushes a light carton.
Collecting without checking the streetIn older districts the big truck may not fit.
Air freight for bulk loadsIt multiplies the cost for no real need.
Leaving paperwork to loading dayA missing Fasah authorisation or a car export certificate not yet issued holds up the whole trip.
Shipping what you do not needThings that could have been sold or donated in Tabuk add to the volume and the cost.

An update at every stage: collection, the truck leaving Tabuk, arrival in Riyadh, passing Batha, entry through Ghuwaifat and delivery. You can call 0568829975 at any time to ask where your shipment is.

Does the cold in Tabuk affect my shipment?

Liquids and sensitive devices can be affected by cold winter nights before loading, so the Al Rahwan crew chooses covers and packing to suit the season. Tell us in advance about any delicate equipment or sensitive materials.
