Al Rahwan is a shipping company from Jeddah to the UAE that moves furniture, cars, cartons and goods by road on trucks: the shipment crosses the Kingdom from Jeddah to Riyadh, then Al Ahsa, to the Batha crossing opposite the UAE’s Ghuwaifat crossing, and reaches Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah within 3 to 5 days, while urgent items go by air in 24 to 48 hours. From Jeddah, prices start at SAR 140 for a carton weighing up to 20 kg, SAR 1,300 for the furniture of one room and SAR 1,100 for a sedan loaded on a shared carrier. Jeddah is a city with its own character: seafront districts and towers along the Corniche, villas in the north around Obhur, old neighbourhoods with narrow streets, a seaport and wholesale markets. All of that shapes how we collect and pack. On this page we cover what is specific to Jeddah: how we collect from its districts, how we handle furniture in seafront towers and humid conditions, how your car gets from Jeddah to Dubai, and how people in Makkah and Taif can use consolidated shipments out of Jeddah.
- Route: from Jeddah east to Riyadh, then Al Ahsa, then the Batha crossing and Ghuwaifat.
- Transit time: 3 to 5 days for general cargo, the same for cars, and 24 to 48 hours by air.
- Prices from: SAR 110 per parcel, SAR 140 per carton, SAR 1,300 per room of furniture and SAR 1,100 per sedan on a shared carrier.
- Consolidation: shipments from Makkah, Taif and the Jeddah area travel with us out of Jeddah.
- Collection: from the northern, central and southern districts of Jeddah.

How long does shipping from Jeddah to the UAE take?
There is no UAE land crossing anywhere near the Red Sea coast, so the only route is across the Kingdom to Batha. The truck leaves Jeddah for Riyadh, carries on east to Al Ahsa, then turns south-east towards the Batha crossing, which faces the Ghuwaifat crossing on the UAE side. That is why a Jeddah run takes a day or two longer than one from Riyadh, and it is also why Al Rahwan runs regular shared departures from Jeddah crossing the Kingdom from west to east to the border, so the owner of a single carton or room never pays for a whole truck.
| From Jeddah to | Expected delivery | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Abu Dhabi and Al Ain | 3 to 5 days | The emirate closest to Ghuwaifat |
| Dubai | 3 to 5 days | The most requested destination |
| Sharjah and Ajman | 3 to 5 days | About half a day after Dubai |
| Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain | 4 to 6 days | Northern and eastern emirates |
Four dates not to mix up
When you ask how long shipping takes, you are really asking about four dates: the day your belongings are collected, the day packing and the inventory are finished, the day the truck leaves Jeddah, and the day of delivery in the UAE. The 3 to 5 days in the table cover the road, from departure to delivery. With shared freight you may also wait for the next departure, and any missing document can add a day or more at the border. So when you book, Al Rahwan gives you both the departure date and the expected arrival date, not a single figure that is hard to judge.
If your tenancy in Dubai or Abu Dhabi starts on a set day, mention it on your first call. It is best to agree a delivery window with a clear fallback if the keys are handed over late, such as keeping the shipment in the warehouse for two days rather than delivering it to a flat nobody can open. If some items are urgent, such as study books or a work laptop, they can be packed separately and sent by air, or placed at the front of the load so they come off first.
Why the Jeddah journey is longer, and how we reduce the impact
Distance alone is not the challenge; the number of stops is. A shipment leaving Jeddah is consolidated in the western region, crosses the central desert to Riyadh, moves on to Al Ahsa and finally reaches the border. To limit the effect, we rely on three things: a regular shared-departure schedule so you never wait for a full load, drivers who rotate on a set pattern to cut long stops, and updates sent to you at each crossing point.
| Stage | What we do | What you gain |
|---|---|---|
| Collection in Jeddah | Inventory, packing and photographs | A record of the shipment’s condition |
| Consolidation | Small shipments combined | A lower price |
| Crossing the Kingdom | Two drivers taking turns | A faster road, safely |
| The border | Paperwork coordinated in advance | Quicker crossing |
| Distribution in the UAE | Transfer to the delivery city | A clear delivery date |
Jeddah districts we collect from
| Area | Districts | Type of collection |
|---|---|---|
| North Jeddah | North Obhur, Ash Shati, Al Hamra, Ar Rawdah, Al Hamdaniyah | Villas and towers, set loading spots |
| Central Jeddah | As Salamah, An Nuzha, As Safa, Al Marjan | Family flats, lifts |
| South Jeddah | Al Faihaa, Al Khalidiyah, Az Zahra, Ar Rabwah, Al Khumrah | Residential and commercial shipments |
| Old Jeddah and Al Balad | Al Balad, Al Kandarah, Al Hindawiyah | Narrow streets, small trucks |
| East Jeddah | Al Bawadi, Al Sawari, the industrial area | Warehouses and wholesale markets |
When you book, give the address in full: the district, street, building number and floor, whether there is a lift, and where the truck can park. In towers and gated compounds, arrange the access permit and a service-lift slot, and tell the Al Rahwan team if the street is too narrow for a large truck, so a smaller vehicle can be sent to shuttle items to it. These small details prevent delays on loading day and stop extra charges you had not planned for.
For customers in Makkah and Taif: we collect from your home, or consolidate your shipment with you in Jeddah, so it leaves on our shared departure instead of you paying for a whole truck.
Shipping prices from Jeddah to the UAE
How much does shipping from Jeddah to the UAE cost? It starts from SAR 110 for a parcel up to 5 kg, from SAR 1,300 for a room of furniture and from SAR 1,100 for a sedan on a shared carrier. For Jeddah shipments Al Rahwan uses the same starting figures published for the UAE route, and the final quote is set once the district, the weight or volume and the UAE city are known. Every figure in the table is the usual minimum for that service.
| Service | Price from |
|---|---|
| Parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 110 |
| Carton up to 20 kg | SAR 140 |
| Bag up to 30 kg | SAR 230 |
| Per kilo (bulk quantities) | SAR 9 |
| Furniture for a room or studio | SAR 1,300 |
| Furniture for a full flat | SAR 4,100 |
| Furniture for a villa | SAR 8,300 |
| Sedan on a shared carrier | SAR 1,100 |
| Shared SUV | SAR 1,400 |
| Luxury car in an enclosed carrier | SAR 2,300 |
| Pallet | SAR 740 |
| 20-foot container | SAR 2,300 |
| 40-foot container | SAR 3,500 |
| Full trailer | SAR 6,500 |
A quick example: a student sending 3 cartons up to 20 kg and a bag up to 30 kg from As Salamah to Sharjah pays from 3 × 140 + 230 = SAR 650. If one of the cartons goes over 20 kg or is bulky, it is charged on the higher of its actual and volumetric weight, as explained in the volumetric weight section.
What the quote includes and what is charged separately
Al Rahwan’s itemised quote shows what the price covers: collection, packing, dismantling and reassembly, loading, transport and delivery. Customs duty or tax on commercial goods, clearance fees, optional insurance and any storage you request appear as separate lines where they apply. “Door to door” describes the service route from the sender’s door to the recipient’s door; it does not automatically mean every government charge is included, so ask about them before you confirm the booking. If the size of the shipment changes after packing, say from 20 cartons to 30, ask for an updated quote before loading, not after.
How to get an accurate quote first time
A message saying “I have things for the UAE” is not enough for a proper quote. Send 0568829975 a short list: the number of rooms, the large pieces such as wardrobes and sofas, a rough carton count, appliances, any glass or marble, and the floor and lift situation in Jeddah and in the UAE. For commercial goods, add the number of pallets with the weight and dimensions of each after packing. A single photo of the building entrance can show whether a small shuttle vehicle or an extra worker is needed, so there are no surprises on loading day.

Moving furniture from Jeddah: humidity, towers and distance
Two things set Jeddah apart: the high humidity on the coast and the long distance to the UAE. Humidity affects wood, leather and appliances, so the Al Rahwan team asks for furniture to dry out completely before wrapping, and uses breathable covers rather than sealed plastic for long periods on wooden pieces. The distance means protection against vibration matters even more, so we strap pieces down and fill the gaps with padding.
| Size of move | Price from | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Room or studio | SAR 1,300 | Loaded in half a day |
| Small flat | SAR 2,500 | One day |
| Full flat | SAR 4,100 | Team of 4 workers |
| Villa | SAR 8,300 | One to two days |
From a Jeddah Home to the Truck: Preparing Your Furniture
We plan the move of your Jeddah home in consecutive stages, each one built on the last, so any slip early on shows up at the end. We begin by surveying the flat or villa in person, and if you have already gone ahead to the UAE, photos of the rooms and short videos over WhatsApp are enough. The survey gives us an inventory of the pieces and their sizes, which tells us how many workers and how much wrapping material the job needs, and then we pick a loading hour that suits the district, so the truck is not parked outside the building for long or disturbing residents, especially on the streets of central Jeddah and at the Corniche towers.
- Dismantling: we take apart beds and wall-fixed wardrobes, and put the screws and small parts into numbered bags.
- Protection: wood goes under heavy padded covers, edges and corners get guards, and glass and mirrors receive several protective layers.
- Appliances: the washing-machine drum and other moving parts are locked, and the fridge is emptied and left open until fully dry, which matters in Jeddah’s humidity.
- Loading: the heaviest items sit on the truck floor with lighter ones above, and the load is strapped so nothing shifts on the long drive east.
- Delivery and assembly: each piece is placed in its own room in your UAE home, and anything we dismantled in Jeddah is put back together if you ask.
Should a piece travel whole or dismantled?
Before loading day, weigh up three things for every large piece: whether it can be taken apart and rebuilt without weakening its joints, how much truck space it will take once wrapped, and whether it will fit through the door and lift of the new home in the UAE. Measuring the door and lift in Dubai before the sofa leaves Jeddah can save you an extra hoisting charge or a delayed delivery. If you do not have the measurements yet, the Al Rahwan team marks the piece as “needs survey” and decides how to move it once it has been measured.
When pieces are dismantled, the screws and small parts of each one go into a separate bag carrying the same code as the piece, doors and panels are numbered with labels that will not mark the finish, and mirrors are separated from the wardrobe frame so the pressure of stacking does not reach them on a long journey across the Kingdom to Dubai. That way the assembly team in the UAE finds every piece with its fixings, and no delivery time is lost hunting for a bolt.

Car shipping from Jeddah to Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Cars from Jeddah and the surrounding area are gathered at a nearby yard, then loaded onto carriers heading east. Because the road is so long, two things matter to us: securing the car properly and protecting it from dust. So Al Rahwan recommends an enclosed carrier for owners of luxury and classic cars. For everything else, a shared carrier suits you if you are not in a hurry, and an open flatbed is the better choice if you want an earlier date.
| Car | Shared | Open flatbed | Enclosed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sedan | 1,100 | 1,650 | — |
| SUV | 1,400 | 2,050 | — |
| Luxury or classic | — | — | 2,300 |
Your Car’s Journey from Jeddah, Step by Step
- Send us the make, model and plate number, and whether the car is two- or four-wheel drive.
- We agree the carrier with you: shared, open flatbed or enclosed, depending on what you want to spend, when you need the car and how much protection you want for it.
- We collect the car from your home in Jeddah, or you hand it over at the nearest collection yard, at a time we set together.
- We photograph the car from all four sides, check the bodywork and write the odometer reading on the collection report.
- The wheels are strapped and the dedicated tie-down points used, then the car is covered to keep the dust off.
- The carrier crosses the Kingdom to the Batha crossing, where the car’s papers are completed.
- You receive your car in the UAE and compare its condition with the Jeddah photos before signing.
| Question | Shared carrier | Open flatbed | Enclosed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lowest | Mid-range | Highest |
| Timing | Waits for a full load | Often quicker | Follows the schedule |
| Dust protection | Lower | Lower | Full |
| Best for | Everyday car | 4×4 or urgent jobs | Luxury or classic cars |
If you and your family have more than one car in Jeddah, ask for them to go on the same trip, and each car’s share of the cost comes down. A car that cannot move under its own power is raised onto the carrier with dedicated lifting equipment, and we tell you of any price difference before you confirm the booking.
Before loading, the Al Rahwan team lists the keys and accessories handed over with the car, such as the spare key, warning triangle and spare wheel, and records them on the collection report with the odometer reading. Do not use the car as a box for items that are not on the shipment list, as undeclared items inside it can hold up its inspection at the border. The car is secured by its wheels and dedicated tie-down points, never by random straps over the body that scratch the paint or work loose on the road.

Cartons and personal belongings from Jeddah
Plenty of people in Jeddah ship belongings for study or work in the UAE, or gifts for relatives. Al Rahwan collects cartons from your door or receives them at its Jeddah warehouse, and they travel on a shared departure to the UAE. It is best to use strong, reinforced cartons and a list inside each one.
- Clothes in sealed, moisture-proof bags inside the carton.
- Electronics in their original boxes if you still have them.
- Perfumes and liquids in leak-proof bags.
- Fragile items on top, with padding between them.
- Avoid very heavy cartons so the ones at the bottom do not collapse.
Numbering cartons and working out their volume
Write a clear number on every carton and keep a matching list: 01 clothes, 02 kitchenware, 03 books, and so on. Do not write the name of valuable contents on the outside of the box; the number is enough, and the details stay on the list kept by you and the shipping team. Keep fragile items apart from heavy ones, and fill the gaps without pressing too hard on the contents.
Dimensions affect the cost even when the weight is low. A carton measuring 60 × 40 × 40 cm takes up 0.096 cubic metres, and ten of the same size take up 0.96 cubic metres, almost a full metre of truck space. On the road-freight formula one such carton gives 96,000 ÷ 5000 = 19.2 kg volumetric, so if it actually weighs 8 kg it is charged at 19.2. Send the volume with the actual weight when you ask for a quote so it comes closer to the final figure.
Commercial shipping from Jeddah
Jeddah is a major trading hub, and the UAE receives clothing, perfumes, dry foodstuffs, spare parts and supplies from it. A Jeddah trader can send goods on pallets, in a container, or in a full truck booked for that shipment alone. Al Rahwan’s prices start from SAR 740 for a pallet, from SAR 2,300 for a 20-foot container, from SAR 3,500 for a 40-foot container and from SAR 6,500 for a trailer. You will need a commercial invoice, a packing list and the importer’s details.
Start by describing the goods, their packaging, quantity, value and the recipient’s details, then make sure the packing list matches the pieces actually being shipped and that box and pallet numbers can be checked on delivery. Equipment with protruding parts needs carefully planned protection and securing, together with its lifting points, weight and centre of gravity where known, because these figures decide how it is lifted onto the truck and where it sits in the load.
Decide in advance who will provide the unloading equipment in the UAE: a heavy crate arriving at an address with no forklift or room to manoeuvre can hold up delivery even when the truck arrives on time. If the destination is a warehouse or a free zone, say so clearly when you book, so Al Rahwan can check the receiving party, entry procedures and documents rather than treating the shipment as if it were going to an ordinary home address.

How Customs Clearance Works at the Border
When the Al Rahwan truck from Jeddah pulls into the Batha crossing, the shipment goes through two steps, one after the other: Saudi exit formalities, then UAE entry formalities. At Batha a commercial shipment is recorded on Fasah, the platform run by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, and its details are matched with the invoice and the packing list. Across the border the file is completed at the Ghuwaifat crossing, and goods bound for Dubai have their details entered in Mirsal 2, Dubai Customs’ electronic system.
Personal furniture and cartons go through simpler formalities, though an inspector may ask for some of them to be opened. So use packing that can be opened and closed again without damage, and stick a note of what is inside on each carton so the check is over sooner.
Air freight from Jeddah to the UAE
Al Rahwan sends air shipments from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. It is the best option when distance is the main concern, since the shipment skips the three to five days the road needs and arrives within 24 to 48 hours. But air freight suits light and urgent items: documents, samples, small parts and devices. Furniture and cars are not sent by air.
For example, a carton measuring 50 × 40 × 30 cm with an actual weight of 6 kg has a volumetric weight of 60,000 ÷ 6000 = 10 kg, so it is charged at 10 kg rather than 6. If it actually weighed 12 kg, it would be charged at 12. This is why compact packing and cutting out empty space pay off more by air than by any other method, and why documents and samples are better sent in envelopes or small packs than in a large, half-empty carton.

Comparing Ways to Ship to the UAE
| Method | Transit time | Best for | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared road freight | 3 to 5 days | Boxes, furniture and belongings | Lowest |
| Dedicated full-truck road freight | 3 to 4 days | Large and commercial loads | Higher, with a free choice of date |
| Car carrier | 3 to 5 days | Cars | Depends on the carrier |
| Air freight | 24 to 48 hours | Light and urgent items | Highest per kilo |
The choice comes down to what you are sending from Jeddah: furniture has no place in air freight, and it makes no sense to book a truck for a handful of light documents. Describe what you want to ship and we will recommend the option that balances arrival time against what you pay.
Because Jeddah is a coastal city, many people ask about sea freight from Jeddah Islamic Port. Sea freight to the UAE is considered for large commercial containers only, which reach Jebel Ali Port after a voyage around the Arabian Peninsula, and port, handling, clearance and inland transport charges are then added at both ends. So Al Rahwan compares the cost from the sender’s door to the recipient’s door, not the sea fare alone, and for furniture, cartons and cars the road via Batha remains the faster and better-value option.
Delivery in UAE cities from Jeddah
Al Rahwan delivers Jeddah shipments in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. When you book, choose the delivery point: the building entrance, inside the home with assembly, or a warehouse or shop. With delivery inside the home, the team carries the pieces into the right rooms, reassembles the beds and wardrobes dismantled in Jeddah, sets the home up and removes the packing materials on request.
| Emirate | Best-suited service from Jeddah | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai | Furniture, cartons, cars and goods | The most requested; early booking is advised |
| Abu Dhabi | Furniture, cars and goods | Closest to the Ghuwaifat crossing |
| Sharjah | Cartons and commercial goods | Plenty of warehouses |
| Ajman | Furniture and cartons | Close to Sharjah |
| Ras Al Khaimah | Goods and furniture | Delivered on its own schedule |
| Fujairah | Cartons and furniture | Delivered on its own schedule |
| Umm Al Quwain | Cartons | Delivered on its own schedule |
In Dubai towers and large Abu Dhabi compounds, building management usually requires a permit for furniture to come in and a service-lift booking at set hours, so ask them a few days before loading. For shops and warehouses, confirm when the authorised member of staff will be there to receive the goods and where they can be unloaded. Always leave the mobile number of a recipient who will answer on arrival day, because a full address and a recipient’s number are more useful than the city name alone.
Moving in two stages or to more than one address
You can split the household list into “needed first” and “can arrive later”, then ask the Al Rahwan team whether physically separating them is worthwhile. It does not always mean two shipments; sometimes it is enough to load the first group where it can be reached easily when unloading, so the things you need on the first night are not buried deep in a load that takes hours to empty.
| Group | Examples | What to settle before loading |
|---|---|---|
| Moving in | Basic bedding, clothes and everyday items | Clear carton numbers and an easy-to-reach position |
| Large furniture | Beds, wardrobes and sofas | Doorway measurements, room layout and assembly work |
| Second address | Equipment to a warehouse or items to another home | A separate list, recipient and mobile number for each address |
This split also helps if part of the shipment is going to Dubai and part to Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. Mention multiple addresses when you ask for a quote, and do not add one after the truck has left as if it were a minor change, since it can alter the load order, the distribution plan and the cost.
How we keep your shipment safe on a long journey
- Securing the load with approved straps and dividers that stop rubbing.
- Heavy pieces at the bottom, fragile ones on top.
- Covering open loads against dust.
- Checking the lashings at every major stop.
- Photographing the shipment at collection and on arrival for comparison.
Protection differs from one shipment to the next: a car is secured by its wheels and chassis, furniture by straps and barriers, and cartons are stacked in interlocking layers. These details are what separates a shipment that arrives as it left from one that arrives with breakages, and they may not be visible when you are comparing prices.
Busy periods and when to book
Demand rises during holiday seasons, at the end of the school year and at the start of the new one, and during the Hajj and Umrah seasons, which put pressure on roads and parking in the western region. If your shipment falls in these periods, book at least a week ahead, especially furniture and cars, so you get a place on the shared departure and avoid the higher prices of a dedicated truck.
Example: a family moving from Obhur to Dubai
A family in north Jeddah is moving to Dubai with the furniture of a three-bedroom flat and an SUV. The furniture starts from SAR 4,100 and the car from SAR 1,400 on the shared carrier, so the starting total is SAR 5,500. If the family picks a loading date on a departure leaving soon, dismantles the furniture themselves and lets it dry before packing, they keep the price close to the starting figures.
Documents needed to ship from Jeddah
What documents do you need to ship from Jeddah to the UAE? Personal belongings and household furniture need the sender’s ID or iqama, a contents list, a Fasah authorisation for the customs broker and the recipient’s details in the UAE. A trader attaches the commercial registration along with the commercial invoice and packing list, and a car owner provides the vehicle registration, its plates and the export certificate. Al Rahwan checks your paperwork before loading in Jeddah so the shipment does not stop at Batha, and requirements follow the regulations in force at the time of shipping.
| Shipment type | Documents required | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Personal luggage and cartons | Sender’s ID or iqama, a list of contents, a Fasah authorisation for the customs broker, and the recipient’s name and mobile | Number the cartons to match the list |
| Household furniture | Owner’s ID or iqama, an inventory of the furniture pieces, a Fasah authorisation and the UAE delivery address | Add the floor and whether there is a lift |
| Commercial goods | Commercial registration, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin when requested, importer’s details | An accurate description and correct value for each item |
| Car | Vehicle registration, plates, export certificate, owner’s ID, a letter from the bank if the car is financed, an authorisation if the sender is not the owner | Depending on the case, the authorisation can be issued electronically or on paper |
Do not rely on a general claim that all furniture is exempt or every product is allowed; whether an item can be shipped, and what the authorities require, is checked for each shipment before any commitment. Keep invoices for new appliances and any proof of ownership, as they may be requested at inspection, and matching names on the ID, the contents list and the authorisation shortens the time at the border.
What you cannot ship from Jeddah
For Jeddah shipments, Al Rahwan does not accept drugs, weapons, explosives, flammable materials, counterfeit goods or hazardous chemicals without a licence. Medicines, refrigerated goods and large batteries need a permit. Concentrated perfumes and flammable items have their own packing requirements.
With personal shipments, watch out for items many people overlook: gas cylinders, fuel left in garden tools and small generators, lighters in quantity, and fresh food that will not survive a 3 to 5 day journey. If you are unsure about an item, ask before packing, because removing it at the border means opening the carton and delaying the whole shipment.
Insuring your shipment from Jeddah
Insurance is optional. Al Rahwan arranges it based on the declared value of the contents, and it is particularly worthwhile for premium furniture, appliances, cars and high-value goods. Before taking it out, ask four things: what the policy covers, what it excludes, how much excess the shipper pays, and how and within what period a claim is made.
Good packing is no substitute for insurance, and insurance is no substitute for records. Keep photos of the pieces with their list and invoices, and note any issue with the shipment at the moment of delivery, before you sign for it, because a note made at the time is the basis of any later claim.
Tracking your shipment from Jeddah to the door
Al Rahwan follows your shipment stage by stage and keeps you updated on your mobile, so the days on the road are never without news:
- At collection, inventory and photographs in Jeddah.
- When the truck sets off east.
- When it passes Riyadh and then Al Ahsa.
- When it leaves the Batha crossing and enters through Ghuwaifat.
- Before delivery, in good time to arrange the lift and the recipient.
You keep one number to call throughout the journey, 0568829975, rather than chasing a driver, a broker and a warehouse. For commercial shipments, each update can be linked to the pallet or box numbers on the packing list, so the importer knows what has arrived and what is still to come.
Storage before shipping or on arrival
Sometimes the day you leave your Jeddah home does not match the day you get your new home in the UAE: the tenancy ends a few days before departure, or the furniture arrives before the recipient has the keys. In that situation Al Rahwan can keep your things in storage for a short spell if you ask, either in Jeddah before the departure or in the UAE after arrival, so your belongings stay wrapped and inventoried under the same numbers until delivery.
Ask for storage when you book, not on loading day, give the expected length in days, and mention any appliances or wooden furniture that need a dry, covered space, especially given Jeddah’s humidity. Storage appears as a separate line in the quote, based on volume and duration.
Booking steps with Al Rahwan for shipping from Jeddah
- Tell us the district, the type of shipment and the delivery city.
- We work out the weight or volume from photos or a visit.
- You receive an itemised quote and an estimated date, with insurance or storage if you asked for them.
- We come to your Jeddah home to collect, wrap, list and photograph your belongings.
- We transport it to Riyadh, then Al Ahsa, then the Batha crossing.
- The crossing paperwork is cleared at Batha and Ghuwaifat and the shipment enters the UAE.
- We deliver to the recipient’s door and assemble the furniture on request.
At loading, check the number of packages against the inventory, repeat the check on delivery in the UAE, and note any issue straight away. You can send your details through the quote request form on the website or on WhatsApp at 0568829975, and the clearer your list, the closer the quote will be to what you actually need.
How to calculate volumetric weight
Multiply length by width by height in centimetres, then divide by 5000 for road freight. A carton of 80 × 60 × 40 cm gives 192,000 ÷ 5000 = 38.4 kg volumetric; if its actual weight is 15 kg, it is charged at 38.4. Cutting down empty space lowers the figure.
The cheapest way to ship from Jeddah
- Join the weekly shared departure.
- Combine the family’s shipments into a single one.
- Bring the shipment to our Jeddah warehouse yourself rather than having us collect it from your home.
- Choose the shared carrier for your car.
- Pack well to cut down the volume.
Common mistakes when shipping from Jeddah
Most delays and extra costs on the Jeddah to UAE route come from small mistakes before loading, not from the road itself. These are the most frequent:
Shipping Terms You Will Hear
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Volumetric weight | A notional weight worked out from the shipment’s dimensions and the space it occupies in a truck or aircraft |
| Chargeable weight | The figure the price is based on: whichever is greater, the actual or the volumetric weight |
| Packing list | A breakdown of what is in each box, with its weight and measurements |
| Commercial invoice | A paper that states the goods’ value and type and names the seller and buyer |
| Customs broker | A licensed agent who handles customs formalities for the owner of the goods |
| Pallet | A wooden or plastic base that cartons are stacked and strapped onto so a forklift can lift them in one go |
| Shared freight | A single trip whose truck carries the shipments of several customers |
| Door to door | A service that starts at the sender’s door in Jeddah and ends at the recipient’s door in the UAE |
