As a Shipping Company from Qassim to Oman, Al Rahwan gathers home furniture, cars, cartons of dates and trade goods in Buraidah, Unaizah, Al Bukayriyah, Ar Rass and Al Mithnab. The truck runs south to Riyadh, swings east towards the Al Batha junction, then heads into the dunes toward the Empty Quarter crossing (Al Rub’ Al Khali), through Ramlat Khaylah and Ibri, and on to Muscat and the other wilayats. Loads reach Muscat and the northern cities 3–5 days after leaving Qassim, with clearance at both border posts counted inside those days. Starting prices: SAR 110 for a carton of dates or a suitcase up to 30 kg, SAR 1,850 for three rooms complete with their appliances, and SAR 1,680 if your sedan can share a transporter with other cars. Call 0568829975, or message the same number on WhatsApp, between 7 am and 11 pm any day, and log your request on the website whenever suits you; just name your town in Qassim and the Omani wilayat you are sending to.

Qassim is not one city but a whole region of towns, governorates and farms, and each part produces its own kind of request. Buraidah sends the homes of employees and teachers who have taken jobs in Oman; Unaizah sends family villas and heavy furniture; at harvest time Qassim farms send boxes of Sukkari dates as gifts to relatives and friends in Muscat, Nizwa and Sohar. There is the Omani student who has finished at Qassim University and wants to ship his books and belongings home, and the trader supplying the region’s produce to shops in Oman. Al Rahwan gathers these orders from across the region and adds them to the Riyadh loads heading south into the desert, so someone with a few boxes never pays for a whole truck.
- The truck’s route: south to Riyadh, on to the Al Batha turn-off, 564 km of sand to the border, then 161 km past Ramlat Khaylah to Ibri.
- Arrival: 3–5 days for Muscat, Sohar and Nizwa; add a day or two for Salalah, Haima and Duqm; 24–48 hours for an air parcel.
- Dates and parcels: a box up to 30 kg starting at SAR 110; a packet up to 5 kg from SAR 32.
- Furniture: SAR 1,100 opens the price for a room, 1,850 for three rooms plus their appliances, 4,150 for a full house or villa.
- Vehicles: a sedan travelling with other cars from SAR 1,680; a jeep or pick-up from 2,780; a carrier for your car alone from 2,400.
- Farm and shop goods: SAR 790 a tonne to begin with, or SAR 410 for space in a truck you share.
- To book: 0568829975 by phone and WhatsApp, 7 am to 11 pm.
Buraidah to Muscat: the road goes through Riyadh, then the Empty Quarter sands
There is no shortcut from Qassim to Oman that avoids Riyadh. A truck loaded in Buraidah or Unaizah drops down the expressway to the capital, then keeps heading east, the Eastern Province ahead, as far as the turn-off for the Al Batha road, where the real desert journey starts: about 564 km from the junction to the Empty Quarter crossing, the only direct land border post between the Kingdom and Oman, administered as part of the Eastern Province. After the Saudi post the truck passes to the Omani post at Ramlat Khaylah, then covers about 161 km to Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, the first big town the driver sees after the border. The desert road on its own, from the Al Batha junction to Ibri, is close to 725 km.

That is why Qassim’s timing sits so close to Riyadh’s: 3–5 days to Muscat and the northern cities. The extra leg from Qassim to Riyadh is a small part of the whole trip; what really sets the date is how quickly the load fills, whether the papers are ready and how fast the two border posts clear it. Goods are only moved from one truck to another in Riyadh when they are a handful of cartons joining other freight; a complete household stays in the truck it was loaded into until it reaches the door in Oman.
| Stop | Location | What happens there |
|---|---|---|
| Loading | Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar Rass, Al Mithnab or Al Bukayriyah | Pieces listed, wrapped and numbered, or cartons collected for consolidation |
| Consolidation | The consolidation warehouse | Qassim cartons join a shared load bound for Oman |
| Eastern road | Riyadh → Al Batha road junction | Driving to the start of the Empty Quarter road |
| The desert | Junction → Empty Quarter crossing | About 564 km to the commercial truck yard |
| The two posts | Empty Quarter, then Ramlat Khaylah | Export declaration on Fasah, then Omani customs on Bayan |
| Entry | Ramlat Khaylah → Ibri | About 161 km, then the roads to Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah and Al Batinah |
| Delivery | Wilayat and district in Oman | Pieces carried in, reassembled and arranged |
Do Qassim loads ever go through the UAE?
Yes, in particular cases. The direct Empty Quarter road is the norm for Muscat, Ibri, Nizwa and nearby towns, but there is an alternative that starts at the Al Batha post, crosses the Emirates and enters Oman at one of the shared border posts: Hatta and Al Wajajah when the destination is Muscat, one of the Al Buraimi posts, or Khatmat Malaha for Shinas and Sohar. At Al Rahwan the deciding factors are the town where the goods will be delivered and what they consist of: a Qassim shipment for Al Buraimi may be better sent through the UAE, and Musandam in the far north can only be reached by road from there. That route means more border posts, so it is settled before booking and allowed for in the timing.
Why are some loads held at the border?
The cause is rarely the road and usually the paperwork. A Qassim load carrying dates or other food that the list does not mention stops until its contents are checked, and a box labelled “assorted” gets opened. Other repeat offenders: a receiver whose phone number is not Omani and so cannot be registered on Bayan, a name on the list that differs from the receiver’s card, or goods for sale mixed in with the household and no invoice. So the Al Rahwan team asks for the list and documents before loading day and works through them line by line, and the truck reaches the border with its file in order.
Car shipping from Qassim to Oman via Riyadh
Qassim cars bound for Oman go onto a multi-deck transporter, either straight from Qassim when the carrier fills up from the region, or after a short transfer to the consolidation yard in Riyadh to join a transporter heading for the border. Each car is covered and its wheels and frame strapped down, and the transporter then takes the Al Batha and Empty Quarter road to Ramlat Khaylah. Transit is close to that of furniture, 3–5 days to Muscat and the north. A sedan sharing the deck starts at SAR 1,680 and a 4×4 at SAR 2,780, SAR 2,400 if you want a carrier for your car alone on a date you set, and SAR 4,150 for a luxury car inside an enclosed carrier that keeps the dust out.

| Option | Starts from | When it suits you |
|---|---|---|
| Shared carrier for a sedan | SAR 1,680 | An everyday car and you can wait a day or two for the carrier to fill |
| Shared carrier for a 4×4 | SAR 2,780 | Jeeps and pick-ups, the workhorses of Qassim and its farms |
| Dedicated carrier | SAR 2,400 | You want the car to leave on a set day, independent of anyone else’s |
| Enclosed carrier | SAR 4,150 | A luxury or classic car that needs full protection from sun and sand |
The car’s file before it leaves Qassim
The file opens with a valid istimara and the owner’s ID. The owner then goes to the traffic department to deregister the car for export, handing in the plates and receiving the export certificate, which matters because Omani rules ask for proof of export from wherever the car was registered. Before that, traffic fines must be cleared, since an outstanding fine blocks the certificate. A car bought on instalments or finance needs a letter from the bank or finance company agreeing to its export. If the person handing the car to the Al Rahwan team is a son, brother or driver, a notarised authorisation from the owner is needed. Once over the border, the receiver takes the car for its Royal Oman Police inspection and registers it. Import rules are not the same for every model, so the Al Rahwan team confirms what applies to yours before any booking is made.
Farm jeeps and pick-ups: what comes off before shipping?
Plenty of Qassim vehicles are working vehicles: a pick-up with farm tools in its bed, or a jeep with a roof rack and rear carrier. Before shipping, the pick-up bed is emptied completely of tools, drums and ropes, because the car travels empty; detachable exterior accessories are removed or firmly secured; and the body is washed of mud so its true condition shows in the collection photos. If the car has been raised or has a fault that stops it being driven, tell the team in advance, as it changes how the vehicle is lifted onto the carrier.
- Photograph the car on every side and inside, and note the odometer before hand-over.
- Leave just enough fuel for loading and unloading.
- Leave nothing personal in the cabin or the bed; your belongings go with the furniture or cartons.
- Hand over one agreed key and keep the spare with you.
How long does shipping from Qassim to Oman take?
3–5 days from loading day in Buraidah, Unaizah or any other Qassim town until the goods are handed over in Muscat, Nizwa, Sohar or Ibri, and the time spent at both border posts is already inside that span. Loads for Salalah in Dhofar or for Al Wusta need one to two days more, cars arrive in about the same time as furniture, and an air parcel takes 24–48 hours.
| Load | Muscat, Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah | Dhofar and Al Wusta |
|---|---|---|
| Household goods and cartons | 3–5 days | One to two days more |
| Dates and packed produce | 3–5 days | One to two days more |
| Shop and farm goods | 3–5 days | One to two days more |
| Car | Close to the furniture timing | One to two days more |
| Air parcel | 24–48 hours to Muscat International Airport | According to flights into Salalah |
Count your date from loading day, not from the day you phone. Before loading you need a day for the survey, a day or two of packing for a big house, and some days at the traffic department if a car is coming too. So if your last day in your Buraidah home is the end of the month, start arranging things a fortnight before and book at least a week ahead of loading. And if you start a job in Oman on a fixed date, have the furniture arrive a day or two after you, so you are there to receive it.
Qassim to Salalah: what changes?
Salalah is in the far south, and the road from Ibri crosses Al Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta before reaching Dhofar, so the load needs one to two days more than Muscat and the extra road distance is reflected in the quote. Fewer loads leave Qassim for Salalah, which means a handful of cartons may wait a little for a shared southbound truck to fill. If your timing is tight, ask about a dedicated carrier, or fly what cannot wait and send the rest by road.
Prices for shipping from Qassim to Oman
Qassim prices are the same as the Saudi–Oman lane in general, because the load joins the Riyadh freight. All are in Saudi riyals and are starting prices; the final cost is built on the shipment’s packed volume and weight, its destination in Oman and the dismantling or assembly it needs. Al Rahwan has an offer running for most of the year, so bring it up when you call.
| Service | Starts from |
|---|---|
| Small parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 32 |
| Carton or suitcase up to 30 kg | SAR 110 |
| Urgent air parcel up to 5 kg | SAR 110 |
| Road freight per kilo (volume, to Muscat) | SAR 5.5 |
| Part load on a shared truck | SAR 410 |
| One room of furniture | SAR 1,100 |
| Small office | SAR 1,020 |
| Flat of up to three rooms with appliances | SAR 1,850 |
| Villa or whole house | SAR 4,150 |
| Dedicated enclosed truck (transport only) | SAR 4,200 |
| Sedan on a shared carrier | SAR 1,680 |
| Four-wheel drive on a shared carrier | SAR 2,780 |
| Car on its own dedicated carrier | SAR 2,400 |
| Luxury car in an enclosed carrier | SAR 4,150 |
| Commercial goods per tonne | SAR 790 |
| 20 ft container by sea | SAR 5,200 |
Some items cannot be priced unseen: a pallet varies with its size and weight, a wooden crate is built to the piece, a heavy farm machine needs its lifting worked out, an air conditioner needs a technician to take it down, storage runs by the day, insurance follows the declared value, and air freight over 5 kg goes by chargeable weight. For these you get an itemised quote after a free survey. Loads for Salalah and the outlying governorates carry an addition for the road distance.
How much does shipping from Qassim to Oman cost?
SAR 32 covers a packet under 5 kg, and SAR 110 a carton of dates or a suitcase as heavy as 30 kg. For furniture, budget from SAR 1,100 per room, SAR 1,850 when three rooms come with their machines, and SAR 4,150 for a villa; a sedan on a shared transporter from SAR 1,680; trade goods from SAR 790 a tonne. Those figures are for Muscat and the northern towns, and your own figure arrives line by line after the survey.
Qassim examples in numbers
- A gift of dates: four cartons of Sukkari, each up to 30 kg, to relatives in Nizwa: 4 × 110 = from SAR 440.
- A teacher whose contract in Unaizah has ended: a bedroom at SAR 1,100 + two bags of books and clothes at 2 × 110 = SAR 220 + a small packet of certificates at SAR 32, so the total starts at SAR 1,352.
- A farm in Al Bukayriyah: two tonnes of packed produce for a trader in Sohar: 2 × 790 = from SAR 1,580.
- A shop in Buraidah: 500 kg of packed stock to Muscat at the per-kilo rate: 500 × 5.5 = from SAR 2,750.
How to estimate a Qassim shipment before you call
Start by sorting what you are sending: household furniture, cartons, goods or a car. Furniture is priced by the room or the house, cartons by the piece, goods by the tonne, the kilo or the load, and a car by the type of carrier. Then add the services you need: dismantling and assembly, wooden crates, storage, insurance. Then fix the wilayat in Oman, because Muscat is not Salalah. With those three you get close to the real figure, and you see why a bedroom is not the same price as a bedroom with a six-door wardrobe and a dresser with a large mirror. When the quote arrives, check that it says what each line includes and what it does not.
Pick-up points across Qassim: Buraidah, Unaizah, Ar Rass, Al Mithnab and Al Bukayriyah
Al Rahwan covers Qassim’s main towns and governorates, collecting from homes, farms, shops and warehouses. In Buraidah, the largest town in the region, collections are frequent from districts such as As Safra, Ar Rayyan, Al Hilal, Al Iskan and Huwailan, as well as from the industrial area for shops and stores. In Unaizah they come from districts such as Al Fayha, Al Ulaya, King Fahd, Ar Rayyan, Al Muruj and Al Khalidiyah. Loads are also collected from Ar Rass, Al Mithnab, Al Bukayriyah, Al Badai and the surrounding villages and farms.
| Town | Most common requests | How collection works |
|---|---|---|
| Buraidah | Employees’ and teachers’ homes, shops, students | Straight from the house to the truck, or a small vehicle for narrow streets |
| Unaizah | Family villas, dates, large furniture | Truck at the door in most cases, with a hoist for heavy pieces when needed |
| Ar Rass | Furniture, cartons and farm produce | Consolidated with Buraidah and Unaizah loads |
| Al Mithnab | Dates, farm goods and personal effects | Consolidation, with a dyna or pick-up for the local leg |
| Al Bukayriyah and Al Badai | Household furniture and farm goods | Consolidated with the Qassim load to Riyadh |
Small dynas and pick-ups do only the first short hop in Qassim, from a narrow-street house or an outlying farm to where the big truck or the consolidation store waits. The border itself is crossed in large enclosed trucks, never in open vehicles.
Shipping Qassim dates and produce to Oman
Qassim is one of the Kingdom’s best-known date regions, and Qassim Sukkari is among the most popular gifts for family and friends in Oman, along with other local specialities such as kleija biscuits. These products can go by road, but there are rules: anything edible has to be declared, and their acceptance by Omani customs follows the regulations in force when they are shipped, so they appear on the list by type and weight and are never tucked inside cartons of clothes.
- Packing: dates in sealed factory or shop packs, inside strong cartons that will not crush under others.
- Heat: dates cope with the road better than most foods, but date paste, maamoul and soft sweets suffer in a hot truck body in summer, so they are well wrapped and sent on the next available load.
- Quantities: a family gift is usually treated as personal effects, while large quantities for sale are commercial goods needing an invoice, a CR and a certificate of origin if requested.
- Honey and ghee: screw the lids down hard, seal each jar in a bag and bed it in a padded box; a single leak spoils the whole carton.
For traders and farms supplying dates to shops in Oman on a regular basis, Al Rahwan arranges repeat shipments by the tonne or as part loads, with full commercial papers for each one.
Moving furniture and household goods from Qassim to Oman
Qassim homes are usually roomy, with heavy solid-wood furniture, large Arabic majlis sets and kitchens built to measure, so guessing by eye does not work. An Al Rahwan supervisor visits the house in Buraidah, Unaizah or any other Qassim town at no charge, or goes round it with you on a video call, counts the pieces and decides what is taken apart, what is wrapped as it stands and what needs a crate, and then you receive a detailed quote. Budget from SAR 1,100 a room, SAR 1,850 when it is three rooms plus fridge and washer, and SAR 4,150 for a full house or villa. In Oman the crew unloads, carries each piece to its room, reassembles it and arranges the house.

Teachers, employees and students: the typical Qassim moves
A large share of moves from Qassim to Oman come from two groups. The first is residents who worked for years in the region’s schools, hospitals and companies and then took a job in Oman, bringing a full flat’s furniture and sometimes a car. The second is Omani students who have graduated from Qassim’s universities and are going home with books, devices and the contents of a student room. The first group usually needs a flat plus a car, so the sum starts at SAR 1,850 for the flat and SAR 1,680 for a sedan. The second can manage with cartons and suitcases from SAR 110 apiece up to 30 kg, perhaps with a desk, a bed and a small fridge added to a shared load.
Packing by type of piece
- Solid wood and large wardrobes: doors and drawers come off and are wrapped separately, corners get card protectors, and the carcass is wrapped in moving blankets.
- Upholstered sofas and majlis seating: first a layer of clean paper or fabric touching the upholstery, then a blanket, then an outer layer of plastic left loose over the fabric so it can breathe.
- Hand-made rugs: rolled, never folded, and covered with a fabric sleeve.
- Mirrors and glass tables: thick board trimmed to each piece, and a timber box built for the big ones, its cost set once the supervisor sees them.
- Crockery and crystal: each piece wrapped in paper and stacked in cartons with dividers.
- What stays with you: perfumes, candles, aerosols and medicines do not go in the truck, because its closed body gets very hot crossing the Empty Quarter sands.
Dismantling and assembly: kitchens, air conditioners and appliances
A made-to-measure kitchen comes apart unit by unit, each cabinet marked to show where it belongs, and the marble or granite top is wrapped on its own because it is heavy and fragile. In Oman it is refitted after the new wall is measured, and the layout is adjusted if the sizes differ. A split AC stays on the wall until a technician has pulled its refrigerant into the outside unit and only then frees the pipes, while a window unit comes out and is wrapped whole; removal of either is priced after the survey. The fridge is turned off the day before loading and dried, the washer is emptied of water with its drum locked, and screens go into padded cases. Numbering each piece by room, with wardrobe screws and handles bagged under the same number, is what makes assembly in Muscat quick and tidy.
Goat-hair tents, camping gear and rest-house furniture
Many Qassim families have an istiraha or a desert camp, and some of those moving to Oman want to take the goat-hair tent, a canvas tent or the rest-house seating with them. These items are fairly light but bulky: poles are dismantled and bundled with ropes and pegs, the canvas is shaken free of sand, dried and folded, and each bundle is numbered. Mention them to the supervisor at the survey so their volume is counted, as they can take more space in the truck than you expect.
Shipping cartons, suitcases and parcels from Qassim
By number, most Qassim requests are not whole houses but cartons and bags: clothes and books, gifts, dates, kitchen things and a student’s belongings. Anything up to 5 kg goes from SAR 32, while a bag or box weighing as much as 30 kg goes from SAR 110. These pieces are picked up at your Qassim address, gathered at the consolidation warehouse and sent with a shared load to Oman, arriving in Muscat and the northern towns in 3–5 days.
- Weigh each carton once it is sealed; if it goes over 30 kg, split the contents across two cartons rather than push it out of its price band.
- Use strong new cartons; used boxes from the vegetable shop collapse under pressure.
- Write the receiver’s name, Omani phone number and wilayat on every carton, with its number in the set, such as “3 of 7”.
- Put the weight low and the light things high, and pad any empty corners with towels or crumpled paper.
- Note each carton’s contents on the list in Arabic and English; “belongings” alone will not do at the border.
Commercial goods and farm equipment from Qassim
Farms and traders make up much of Qassim’s economy, so the region sends Oman packed produce, irrigation gear and farm machines, shop stock, spare parts and office furniture. With Al Rahwan a tonne of produce starts at SAR 790; large quantities bound for Muscat can be billed per kilo from SAR 5.5; a farm that cannot fill a truck books space on a shared one from SAR 410; and anyone who wants the whole enclosed truck pays from SAR 4,200 for the haul. A small office’s contents begin at SAR 1,020, and pallets or heavy machines get their price at the survey.
A whole truck or space on a shared one?
A trader whose goods will not fill a truck takes a part load (LTL), paying only for the space his pallets occupy, and the truck leaves once other customers fill it. Someone who fills a truck, needs a fixed departure for a season or a supply contract, or ships a product that must not be mixed with others takes a full load (FTL). Regular shippers, such as a farm sending its dates every season or a shop restocking every month, agree a schedule with space reserved in advance.
Irrigation equipment and farm machinery
A pump, a sorting machine or other farm equipment needs, before booking: its dimensions and weight, its lifting points, the parts that can come off, and how it will be loaded at the farm and unloaded in Oman. Heavy kit may need a crane at both ends, and if the receiver has none, that has to be arranged beforehand. Fuel and oils are drained as far as possible before shipping, since fuel is a prohibited item, and the machine is secured inside the truck with straps and blocks.
Containers by sea for Qassim traders
Qassim is far from the coast, so sea freight from it means trucking the container to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, then shipping it to Sohar, Salalah or Duqm. It is for commercial containers only, from SAR 5,200 for a 20 ft unit, with 40 ft priced separately, and it suits a trader sending a large quantity to an area near one of those ports. For household goods, cars and cartons, the road is faster.
Road or air from Qassim?
| Mode | Time to Muscat | Starts from | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Road via Riyadh and the Empty Quarter | 3–5 days | SAR 32 a packet, 110 a carton | Furniture, cars, dates and goods |
| Air via Riyadh or Prince Naif Airport | 24–48 hours | SAR 110 up to 5 kg | Papers, personal medicines and small urgent items |
| Sea from Dammam port | Depending on the sailing schedule | SAR 5,200 for a 20 ft container | Traders’ containers only |
For a household move the answer is usually a mix: furniture and car by road, and a small bag of official papers, certificates and medicines by air, so they are with you from your first day in Oman even if the truck is a day late.
Air freight from Qassim to Oman
Air freight from Qassim leaves from the nearest airport according to the flights available: from Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Qassim when a suitable flight exists, or by taking the parcel to King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and flying it to Muscat International Airport, or to Salalah Airport depending on schedules. Transit is 24–48 hours to Muscat; the urgent rate for up to 5 kg begins at SAR 110, and any heavier parcel is charged on chargeable weight with a quote based on weight and size.

Airlines charge whichever is bigger: what the parcel really weighs, or its volumetric weight, which is length × width × height in centimetres over 6000. A 40 × 40 × 30 cm carton has a volume of 48,000 cubic centimetres, so its volumetric weight is 8 kg. Fill it with 12 kg of dates and you pay on 12 kg because the actual weight is higher; fill it with 4 kg of clothes and you pay on 8 kg. So small heavy items can fly when needed, while big light ones belong on the truck.
From Qassim, air suits a graduation certificate or appointment papers someone needs in Oman within days, personal medicines with their prescription, a spare part for a stalled machine, or a small gift for an occasion coming up soon. It does not take what airlines forbid, such as flammable liquids, loose batteries and aerosols, and liquids and honey are checked before hand-over.
Documents needed to ship from Qassim to Oman
Anyone sending household goods or personal belongings needs a copy of their passport and ID or iqama, an inventory in Arabic and English describing every piece, and an online authorisation for the broker from their Fasah account. On the other side, the receiver’s name in Oman is required together with an Omani mobile that Bayan can register, the address right down to floor and lift, a copy of whichever card he holds in Oman, and the receiver’s authorisation for the broker. The table shows what is added for each type.
| Shipment | What is required |
|---|---|
| Household goods and personal effects | Sender’s passport plus ID or iqama, the list in both languages and his Fasah mandate; receiver’s Omani mobile, address, card copy and mandate |
| Dates and food in trade quantities | CR, sales invoice, packing list, certificate of origin if requested, the Omani importer’s details, and whatever the regulations require for that food |
| Goods and equipment | CR, commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin when asked, importer details in Oman |
| Car | Istimara, export certificate after the plates go back to traffic, owner’s ID, the lender’s consent for a financed car, proof that fines are paid, authorisation for whoever hands it over, receiver details |
Customs at the Empty Quarter crossing and Ramlat Khaylah
The Saudi procedure starts in Qassim before the truck moves: you sign in to Fasah, the customs authority’s portal, to give the broker your mandate, and he files the export declaration listing the contents; the load is then matched to it at the Empty Quarter crossing, and some cartons may be opened. The Omani procedure is done at Ramlat Khaylah by Royal Oman Police customs through Bayan, or at whichever post the truck uses if it comes in from the Emirates. Whether any charge applies, and how second-hand household goods and cars are handled, is for Omani customs to decide by the rules that apply at the time of shipping; Al Rahwan reviews your shipment before loading so you know what to expect.
What sets Qassim shipments apart at customs is dates and food: declare them clearly, keep family gifts separate from quantities meant for sale, and never put trade goods among the household furniture.
Prohibited and declarable items from Qassim
Not shipped from Qassim to Oman: narcotics, weapons and ammunition including hunting guns, explosives and fireworks, flammable materials, gas cylinders and fuel for generators and machines, counterfeit goods, and hazardous chemicals including some farm pesticides. Some things are allowed only once declared and, where needed, approved: medicines beyond personal use, drones, radio sets, big batteries, plants and seedlings, and food, dates and honey included. Customs has the final say, so list every one of these before packing.
Covering, tracking and storing a Qassim shipment
Insurance: request it at booking if you want it; the sum insured is the value you state, backed by the photo list, and the cover and claims process are explained before loading. Tracking: you get a call or WhatsApp message at loading in Qassim, when the truck reaches the Empty Quarter crossing, when it enters Oman and on delivery, and you hold a shipment reference to ask about it any time. Storage: if your Buraidah tenancy ends before your Omani home is ready, or the load arrives before you get the keys, the furniture is stored before departure or after arrival, priced after the survey by volume and duration.

Where Qassim loads are delivered in Oman
Al Rahwan delivers Qassim loads to all eleven governorates of Oman. The busiest is Muscat with its wilayats of Seeb, Bawshar, Muttrah, Al Amerat and Qurayyat, followed by Al Dakhiliyah with Nizwa and Bahla, North Al Batinah with Sohar and Shinas, and Al Dhahirah, where Ibri is the first town after the border.
| Governorate | Centre and other towns | From Qassim |
|---|---|---|
| Muscat | Bawshar, Seeb, Al Amerat, Muttrah, Qurayyat, with districts such as Al Khuwair, Al Qurum and Al Mawaleh | 3–5 days |
| Al Dhahirah | Ibri | The closest Omani town to the border |
| Al Dakhiliyah | Nizwa, Bahla | 3–5 days |
| North Al Batinah | Sohar, Shinas | 3–5 days; route depends on the load |
| South Al Batinah | Rustaq | 3–5 days |
| Al Buraimi | Al Buraimi | The UAE road may suit better |
| North Al Sharqiyah | Ibra | 3–5 days |
| South Al Sharqiyah | Sur | 3–5 days |
| Al Wusta | Haima, Duqm | One to two days more |
| Dhofar | Salalah | One to two days more, plus the road distance in the price |
| Musandam | Khasab | By road only through the UAE |
On home moves, the arrival service covers unloading, placing, assembly and arranging. If the home is in an apartment block, book the lift and get building management’s approval before arrival day, and send the location and a photo of the entrance, since some older districts need a smaller vehicle for the last stretch.
The cheapest way to ship from Qassim to Oman
If your load is a few cartons, do not ask for a truck; a shared load starts from SAR 110 per carton. If it is some furniture, a part load from SAR 410 costs less than a dedicated truck, and a car on a shared carrier from SAR 1,680 costs less than one of its own. Then reduce the volume: sell in Qassim the heavy old furniture you do not love and buy its replacement in Oman, and leave worn-out appliances behind. Book early and ask about the offer running at the time. The more complete your papers and list are before loading, the less chance of a wait at the border that could cost you storage or delay.
Mistakes that keep happening when shipping from Qassim
- Shipping dates without listing them: the load is held at the border until its contents are checked.
- Weak second-hand cartons: they collapse under pressure on a long run through Riyadh and the desert.
- Leaving the car’s deregistration too late: it then leaves after the furniture.
- Fuel left in farm machinery: fuel is prohibited, and machines are drained before shipping.
- A receiver with no Omani number: he cannot be registered on Bayan.
- Flying a big light carton: it is billed on volumetric weight and costs several times the road rate.
- Booking in the final week: there may be no space on a load to your wilayat on your date.
From Oman to Qassim: the opposite direction
Al Rahwan also ships from Oman to Qassim, for people going back to Buraidah or Unaizah after working in Muscat or Sohar, for those moving from Oman to work or study in Qassim, and for traders importing Omani products. The truck leaves Oman at Ramlat Khaylah, re-enters the Kingdom at the Empty Quarter post, and passes Riyadh on its way north to Qassim, with matching formalities on each side. Call the same number with your Omani wilayat and your Qassim town.
Why choose Al Rahwan for shipping from Qassim to Oman?
Because Al Rahwan sends freight worldwide, overland, by sea and by air, and Omani requests keep coming in all year, Qassim loads always have a place on the Riyadh freight heading for the Empty Quarter and your cartons do not sit for weeks. Because it collects from Qassim’s towns and villages, not just Buraidah. Because it knows the declarations dates and food need at customs and how farm machinery must be prepared. Because its quotes are itemised and its crew in Oman assembles and arranges your furniture. And because someone answers the phone from seven in the morning until eleven at night.
