Home Removals Company from Saudi Arabia to UAE | 0568829975 ◈ Whole-Home Moves from Every Saudi City with Car Shipping to All Seven Emirates

Move your whole home from any Saudi city to all seven emirates by road through Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat, with survey, dismantling, packing, reassembly and family car shipping. Riyadh and Eastern Province moves arrive in 2–3 days; a studio from SAR 1,300 and a three-bedroom flat with appliances from SAR 4,100.

Al Rahwan moves entire households out of any Saudi city, and as a Home Removals Company from Saudi Arabia to UAE it runs the job end to end: a survey and inventory, then dismantling, wrapping and numbering, then loading into a closed truck that crosses at Al Batha into Al Ghuwaifat on the Abu Dhabi side, and finally unloading, reassembly and setting up in your new home. Loads from Riyadh, Dammam, Al Khobar and Al Ahsa reach the Emirates two to three days (2–3) after the truck doors close, and loads from Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif take 3–5 days. Prices start at SAR 1,300 when it is a studio or single room; a villa begins at SAR 8,300, and a three-bedroom flat complete with appliances at SAR 4,100. To book a free survey, call 0568829975.

This page is written for anyone looking at a house full of belongings and knowing they need to be living in the UAE within a few weeks: a family in a flat in Al Khobar whose breadwinner has a new job in Dubai, an employee in Riyadh whose company has posted him to Abu Dhabi, an Emirati family that spent years in Jeddah and is now heading home, or a long-term resident leaving the Kingdom for good who wants to take the home he built with him. You will find transit times from every city, starting prices for each size of home, what happens to your furniture at every stage, the paperwork on both sides of the border, and how the family car and your urgent items travel alongside the main load.

Your UAE move at a glance

  • Route: road only for household moves, from your city to the Al Batha crossing and then Al Ghuwaifat in Abu Dhabi, and from there to any emirate.
  • Days on the road: 2–3 for Riyadh and the Eastern Province; Qassim adds a day (3–4); Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif need 3–5; Tabuk, Khamis Mushait and Abha need 4–6.
  • What a home costs: a studio begins at SAR 1,300; two bedrooms at SAR 2,500; a three-bedroom family flat with its appliances at SAR 4,100; a villa at SAR 8,300.
  • The family car: SAR 1,100 is the entry point for a sedan sharing a transporter, SAR 1,400 for a 4×4, with 3–5 days on the road.
  • What cannot wait: goes by plane from Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah, landing in 24–48 hours.
  • Before loading: one survey day and one packing day for an apartment, and more than one packing day for large villas.
  • To book: ring or WhatsApp 0568829975; lines are staffed daily, 7 am through 11 pm, while our website form accepts requests 24 hours.

The Overland Route from Saudi Cities to the UAE: Al Batha then Al Ghuwaifat

Wherever you live in the Kingdom, your removal truck ends up at a single gateway in the far east of the country: the Saudi post at Al Batha, with Al Ghuwaifat, belonging to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, directly across from it. No other road crossing links the two states, so a family in Jeddah or Abha has no shorter way round it. After Al Ghuwaifat the truck runs through Abu Dhabi territory and the Al Dhafra region, then either heads for Abu Dhabi city or Al Ain, carries on north towards Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, or turns east for Fujairah.

The only distances we quote are from Riyadh: roughly 960 km to Abu Dhabi city and roughly 1,060 km to Dubai. From other cities the road is longer or shorter depending on how far west or north they sit, which is why Dammam and Jeddah or Tabuk have different transit windows. Because most of the drive happens inside the Kingdom before the border, the load is closed and the inventory signed in front of your house, and the box is not opened again except for a customs inspection, if one is called, or for unloading in the UAE.

Why does your city not change the border crossing?

Because the land border between Saudi Arabia and the UAE has only this crossing. Someone in Taif and someone in Al Khobar leave the Kingdom through the same gate; the only difference between them is the number of days spent driving inside Saudi Arabia. That keeps things simple for you: one set of Saudi export procedures, one set of entry procedures at Al Ghuwaifat, and a clearing agent who knows the crossing well because he deals with it every week.

Can the furniture go straight to Dubai without passing through Abu Dhabi?

No. A truck arriving overland from the Kingdom always enters the UAE at Al Ghuwaifat, and Al Ghuwaifat is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. That does not mean a stop or an unload in Abu Dhabi; the truck simply drives across it on the way to Dubai, Sharjah or wherever you are going, and your load reaches your door exactly as it was sealed. The only difference is that a shipment heading to Dubai also has its details registered on the Dubai Customs system, as explained in the customs section below.

Home Removal Transit Times to the UAE from Every Saudi City

Each window below starts when the truck doors are shut outside your home and ends with delivery in the Emirates. Preparation is extra: the survey visit, then packing, which is usually a single day for a flat and more for large villas.

City Time from loading to delivery How the journey starts
Riyadh 2–3 days A dedicated truck leaves from your door heading east; a part load joins the next scheduled trip out of Riyadh
Dammam and Al Khobar 2–3 days The closest major cities to Al Batha, loaded straight from the home
Al Ahsa 2–3 days Sits on the truck route towards the border
Qassim (Buraidah and Unaizah) 3–4 days Loaded at the home; smaller loads join a scheduled trip
Jeddah 3–5 days A long haul across the Kingdom from west to east
Makkah 3–5 days Loaded at the home; part loads join the Jeddah trips
Madinah 3–5 days Loaded at the home or within a scheduled trip
Taif 3–5 days Loaded at the home; part loads are grouped with western region loads
Tabuk 4–6 days The furthest north-western point from the border
Khamis Mushait and Abha 4–6 days A trip from the south towards the east

Why is transit given as a window rather than a fixed day?

Driving is only part of the journey. Once the doors close, the export paperwork is checked; at either border post an inspector may pick out cartons to open; and on arrival the unloading slot has to be agreed with whoever manages the building or compound. Al Rahwan therefore gives you a realistic window that allows for these stops and keeps you posted as the shipment moves, rather than naming an hour it may not keep.

Transit counts from loading, not from booking

It is easy to confuse the two. If you book today for a move in a fortnight, the Riyadh clock of two to three days starts in a fortnight. Anyone with a fixed first day at work in Dubai or Abu Dhabi should work backwards from the handover date of the new home: subtract the road days from your city, then the packing day and the survey day, and keep one buffer day on top.

What Does Moving House from Saudi Arabia to the UAE Cost?

A whole-home move with Al Rahwan begins at SAR 1,300 for a studio or a single furnished room. A flat with two bedrooms, a sitting room and a kitchen begins at SAR 2,500; three bedrooms or more, appliances included, at SAR 4,100; and a villa at SAR 8,300. Those base prices already cover dismantling, wrapping, loading, the road, unloading and reassembly; the survey then adds any lines that are particular to your home.

Home size Base price Typical household
Studio or one furnished room SAR 1,300 Someone living alone, a student, a bachelor employee
Flat with two bedrooms, sitting room and kitchen SAR 2,500 Newly-weds or a small family
Three-plus-bedroom family flat, appliances included SAR 4,100 A mid-size or large family
Villa, duplex or detached house SAR 8,300 Big homes with annexes and storerooms
Full truck (trailer) SAR 6,500 Anyone who wants a whole closed truck for their own load, shared with nobody

Homes often come with extras that are not furniture: cartons sent a few days ahead, spare suitcases, or a small load by the kilo. Car prices are in the car section further down; here is where the rest begins:

Sent on its own Base price
Small parcel, 5 kg or less SAR 110
Carton weighing 20 kg or less SAR 140
Travel case, 30 kg maximum SAR 230
Bulk belongings weighed by the kilo SAR 9 per kilo
Urgent items on a plane Line-by-line quote worked out on chargeable weight

Weight or space: how is a house move measured?

Space, for the most part, because furniture fills a truck long before it gets heavy. A six-door wardrobe weighs relatively little yet occupies as much room as dozens of cartons. The surveyor therefore estimates the cubic volume room by room and picks the truck type and size from that. Weight only enters the picture for single parcels and cartons sent by the kilo, and for air freight, which runs on chargeable weight.

Why two similar homes get different quotes

The number of rooms alone does not tell the story. Two three-room homes can be priced very differently because of the details below:

  • How full the rooms are: a bedroom with a king bed, a huge wardrobe and a dressing table is not the same as a room with a single bed and a small cupboard.
  • Access to the door: a fifth floor with no lift takes more time and more hands than a ground floor, and a compound where the truck has to park far from the house means a longer carry.
  • Air conditioners: every split unit that is taken down and refitted is counted separately.
  • The kitchen: a wooden or aluminium kitchen fixed to the wall is a different job from a kitchen where only the appliances move.
  • Special pieces: a marble table, a large chandelier or an antique that needs a wooden crate is priced after the free survey.
  • Shared or dedicated: sharing keeps a small load cheap; a truck of your own is the sensible choice for a complete household.
  • Extras: insurance and storage, each shown as its own line.

Worked examples for homes moving from the Kingdom to the UAE

Each row below just totals base prices so you have a rough figure before anyone visits. Your actual figure comes after the survey, broken down line by line:

Situation Items Total from
Single employee moving a studio and two suitcases Studio 1,300 + two suitcases 460 SAR 1,760
Couple in a small Al Khobar flat with a sedan Small apartment 2,500 + sedan 1,100 SAR 3,600
Family in a full Riyadh apartment with a sedan Full apartment 4,100 + sedan 1,100 SAR 5,200
Family in a full Jeddah apartment with an SUV Full apartment 4,100 + SUV 1,400 SAR 5,500
Villa in Dammam’s Al Shati district with two 4x4s Villa 8,300 + 2 × 1,400 SAR 11,100
Villa with a luxury car in an enclosed carrier Villa 8,300 + 2,300 SAR 10,600
Student room with five cartons sent ahead Room 1,300 + 5 cartons 700 SAR 2,000

Economy move or full service?

Not everyone moving house needs the same service. Some customers pack clothes and books themselves and leave the furniture and appliances to the crew; others want to walk out of a tidy home and into a tidy one. This table shows the difference:

Task Economy move Full service
Packing clothes, books and household items Done by the customer in cartons supplied by the crew Done by the packing team
Dismantling and wrapping furniture Crew Crew
Truck type Usually shared Dedicated or shared depending on volume
Reassembly in the UAE Beds and main wardrobes Every piece, placed in its room
Air conditioners and kitchen An added line on request Planned from the survey onwards
Unpacking cartons into cupboards Customer Crew, if you ask for it

Al Rahwan offers on home removals

Al Rahwan runs offers on UAE home removals for most of the year, and they vary by route, season and load size. We do not print fixed figures for them here because they change; it is better to ask when you call, once the team knows your home size, your city and your date.

Types of Home and What Changes with Each

Every home has its own character, and the crew moving a tower flat in Riyadh needs different arrangements from the crew moving a two-storey villa in Al Khobar. These are the main differences Al Rahwan plans for from the survey onwards.

An apartment in a block or tower

The first challenge in an apartment is the path from the front door to the truck. Is there a service lift? Will the long sofa fit in it? Will the guard let the truck park at the entrance? These questions are settled before loading day. In towers the lift is booked for a time slot, and the crew lines its walls and floor with boards and blankets so it is not scratched. Pieces that will not fit in the lift are dismantled first, so a large wardrobe comes down as numbered panels rather than in one piece.

A floor of a villa or an older house

Many families rent one floor of a villa or an older house in an established neighbourhood. Streets there are sometimes too narrow for a large truck, so furniture is shuttled from the door to the truck in a smaller vehicle or carried by hand over a short, organised distance. Staircases in these houses are often tight and turning, so big pieces are measured against them at the survey to decide what gets dismantled and what goes down whole.

A complete villa

A villa is a different move in both size and detail: separate majlis rooms for men and women, several bedrooms, an annex, an outdoor kitchen, a storeroom and sometimes garden furniture. Packing takes more than a day, and the work is split between teams: one for the majlis and rugs, one for bedrooms and wardrobes, a technician for the air conditioners and another for the kitchen. A villa usually needs a full dedicated truck, and occasionally more than one if the storeroom is packed or the garden furniture is bulky.

A house inside a residential compound

The compounds where many expatriate employees live in Riyadh, Al Khobar and Dhahran have their own rules: entry permits for the truck and the workers, fixed loading hours, and sometimes a gate a long truck cannot pass. The crew sorts these out with compound management days ahead, and will usually ask you for a letter or approval in your name, because management deals with the resident rather than the mover.

Who Moves Home to the UAE? Cases We See Every Week

Behind every move is a different story, and every story changes something in the plan. These are the situations Al Rahwan handles most often.

The resident leaving the Kingdom for good

An engineer who lived in Dammam for many years decides to take a job in Sharjah. He has two choices: sell his furniture for less than half its value and buy again over there, or move it. If the furniture is in good shape the maths is simple: moving a full apartment starts from SAR 4,100, while replacing the bedrooms, majlis and appliances costs several times that. What matters most in this case is that the move lines up with closing his residency and exit paperwork, so he does not find himself in the UAE while his furniture has not moved because his documents were not ready.

The employee transferred by his company

An employee at a Riyadh company is posted to his employer’s Abu Dhabi office and has one month. He needs two things: fast arrangements, and an itemised quote he can hand to his employer if they are covering the cost. Often the furniture arrives a few days before or after him, so short-term storage is useful if his Abu Dhabi home is not ready yet.

The Emirati family returning home

An Emirati family that lived in Jeddah or Riyadh for study or work is going back to Al Ain or Ras Al Khaimah. These families often have large homes with fine furniture, Arabic majlis seating and hand-made rugs, and their valuable pieces need extra care. As with any other move, the inventory list and the clearing agent authorisation are still required.

The student or single resident

A graduate leaving university in Madinah, or a young man renting a studio in Jeddah, has no reason to pay for an entire truck. His room travels on a truck shared with other customers, at SAR 1,300 and up, or his belongings go as individual cartons and cases. What he needs on day one can fly, and the rest follows by road.

Your Pre-Move Timeline: What to Do and When

Most of the troubled moves we have seen did not go wrong on loading day; they went wrong weeks earlier, when a decision or a document was left too late. This timeline helps you spread the tasks out:

One month beforeCall to book the survey, pencil in a loading date, and find out when you will receive your home in the UAE.
Two weeks beforeSort the house room by room: what moves, what gets sold, what gets given away. Worn-out appliances and broken furniture are not worth the road.
Seven days outCollect copies of IDs or iqamas, complete the clearing agent’s Fasah authorisation, send the name, number and address of whoever will receive in the UAE, and ask the new building’s management to reserve the service lift.
Forty-eight hours outDefrost and unplug the fridge and freezer, drain and disconnect the washer so it can dry, and put passports, papers and jewellery into a bag you will carry yourself.
Loading dayBe there, or send someone who knows the house, and check and sign the inventory before the truck is closed.
Arrival dayShow the crew which room is which in the new home, check the cartons against the inventory, and sign for delivery after reassembly.

What does not go in the removal truck?

Before you sort, know that some items cannot travel on the truck at all, such as gas cylinders, fuel and flammable materials; the restricted items section below lists them. There are also things you should carry yourself: passports, certificates, gold and jewellery, the daily medicines you rely on, and devices holding your work data.

The Survey and Inventory: The Step Everything Else Rests On

Nobody at Al Rahwan will quote a final number for a whole house on a phone call. A guess made without seeing the rooms tends to go one of two ways: it jumps on loading morning, or it is padded “just in case” and you pay the padding without knowing. The survey costs you nothing: a home visit in the main cities, or a video call in which you carry your phone from room to room if you are far away or pressed for time.

Home survey and inventory before moving from Saudi Arabia to the UAE

Room by room, the surveyor lists what is there, checks the floor number, the lift and where a truck can stop, marks pieces that need special handling, counts the air conditioners and looks at the kitchen. He also asks about the place you are going to: is it a tower flat that needs a lift slot? Is it smaller than your current home, meaning some pieces may need storing? Getting these answers early prevents surprises on delivery day.

Three things come out of the survey: a volume estimate and truck type, an itemised quote with every service listed separately, and a first draft of the inventory that is completed on packing day. That list is not a formality; it is the basis for the customs declarations on both sides, the reference you check your belongings against on arrival, and the document insurance relies on if you take it.

The Move Day by Day: From Dismantling to Setting Up

Moving a home is a chain of steps, each depending on the one before. This is how it runs at Al Rahwan:

  1. Survey day: listing the contents, measuring large pieces against doors, stairs and lifts, and agreeing the date and the quote.
  2. Packing and dismantling day: the crew arrives with cartons and materials, packs small items room by room, takes apart beds and wardrobes and numbers their parts, and wraps each piece in what suits it.
  3. Loading day: pieces are loaded in a planned order inside a closed truck, the inventory is checked with you, then the truck is sealed and sets off.
  4. Road and border days: the truck drives to Al Batha, export formalities are completed, entry follows at Al Ghuwaifat, and you get a notification at each stage.
  5. Arrival day: unloading at the new home, reassembly of beds and wardrobes, each piece placed in its room, and packing materials cleared away.

Dismantling, wrapping and numbering

Dismantling is a carpenter’s job, not a porter’s. A wardrobe taken apart without skill can lose its hinges or crack at the corners and never sit right again. So Al Rahwan’s carpenters handle bedroom sets, wardrobes and bookcases, placing each piece’s screws and small fittings in a numbered bag taped to one of its panels, and marking every panel with the piece number and the room.

Cartons get the same treatment: a number, the room they came from and a few words on what is inside, all matching a line on the inventory. When the crew walks into your new UAE home, they can put every carton in the right room without stopping to ask.

Wrapping to suit each piece

Wrapping is matched to the item. Sofas are dressed in cloth or paper, padded with a blanket, and only then given an outer plastic sleeve left loose; wooden tops get corrugated card on the corners; glass is layered in bubble wrap and stood between boards; mattresses go into dust covers; plates are wrapped singly and stood on edge in strong cartons. For a deeper look at protecting valuable pieces by material, read our page on the Furniture moving company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, which goes material by material.

Air conditioners, kitchens and appliances

You cannot just unbolt a split AC and carry it away. The technician first recovers the refrigerant into the outside unit, then separates and seals the copper lines, and only then takes both halves down. At the new address he mounts them again and runs a test. Window units are lifted out, wrapped and kept upright.

A fitted kitchen calls for a decision during the survey: take it or leave it? Wooden or aluminium units in good shape come apart and are numbered, but they may not match the new kitchen’s dimensions, so compare measurements first. Big appliances need preparing: the fridge should be emptied and turned off the day before so it dries out, the washer drum must be locked, and the oven cleaned with its glass door wrapped.

Rugs, carpets and glass

Rugs are beaten free of dust, then rolled like a tube rather than folded, since folds can leave permanent lines in the pile. Once rolled they are sleeved in plastic and laid flat in the truck. Wall-to-wall carpet is rarely worth taking because the new rooms will not match. On glass tables the top comes off the frame, and the glass rides on its edge between separators.

Loading into a Closed Truck and the Types of Truck

Household moves to the UAE travel in closed-box trucks, because the trip is long and crosses desert stretches with dust and heat. A closed box shields the furniture from direct sun and sand, and stops pieces shifting once they are strapped inside.

Al Rahwan crew carrying wrapped furniture into a closed truck outside a Saudi apartment block before the trip to the UAE
Loading household goods into a closed truck from Saudi Arabia to the UAE

Loading is done to a plan: the heaviest items go on the floor near the cab end; tall pieces like wardrobe panels and fridges stand against the side walls; heavy cartons sit beneath light ones; mattresses and sofas ride on top; any gap is packed with blankets so nothing can slide. Every tier is strapped off before the next goes in.

Vehicle Right for What to know
Closed truck shared with other customers A room, a studio or a handful of items The trip cost is split; departure may wait for the truck to fill
Dedicated medium truck A small or mid-size apartment Leaves on the agreed date and carries nobody else’s goods
Full closed trailer A large apartment or villa From SAR 6,500 for transport alone, with room for a big home
Dyna for local shuttling Reaching narrow lanes Moves furniture from the house to the large truck when it cannot park at the door

Shared or dedicated truck?

Sharing is the budget option for small loads because you only pay for your slice of the space. The trade-off: it may sit until it is full before leaving, and if it carries customers bound for different emirates it may stop to unload theirs before yours. A dedicated truck leaves on your date, drives to your door, and only your crew handles your belongings. Our rule of thumb is simple: a full flat or more goes dedicated; a room or a few items go shared.

Protecting furniture over a long haul in the heat

Heat on the desert road affects some materials: wax melts, thin plastic softens, and sensitive electronics dislike swinging between hot days and cool nights. So do not pack candles, aerosols or anything that might leak, and wood is wrapped in a breathable layer before plastic so moisture is not trapped against it. A closed truck with tight loading cuts down vibration, which over long distances does more damage to furniture than the heat itself.

Road or Sea for Moving Your Home to the UAE?

Every so often a customer has heard that the sea route is cheaper for big loads. There is indeed a sea link: containers leave Dammam via King Abdulaziz Port, or Jeddah Islamic Port, for Jebel Ali. But it is built for trade, either a whole container booked by one shipper (FCL) or space inside a groupage container (LCL). Sending a household that way means trucking it to the quay, handling it at two ports, then trucking it again from Jebel Ali. Each extra handling is another chance of a scratch or a delay, and a bigger load does not make that chain any cheaper.

Comparison Road via Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat Sea to Jebel Ali
Route Door to door in one truck Road to port, then sea, then road from Jebel Ali
Handling One loading and one unloading Loading and unloading at every stage
Time Two to six days, by city Slower, as it depends on sailings and two sets of port formalities
Best for Homes, furniture and cars Large commercial containers
Base prices Family flat SAR 4,100 and up; villa SAR 8,300 and up 20-foot box SAR 2,300 and up, 40-foot SAR 3,500 and up, plus trucking at each end

Customs at Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat

You rarely have to be at the frontier in person. In Saudi Arabia you give the clearing agent an electronic mandate through Fasah, the customs portal of ZATCA (the Saudi customs and tax body), and he files the export declaration for you. On the far side, Abu Dhabi Customs at Al Ghuwaifat completes entry, and when the delivery address is in Dubai the consignment is also logged on Mirsal, Dubai Customs’ own system.

Officers often open a few cartons to check what is inside. That is where a numbered, detailed list earns its keep: the officer points, the agent reads the number off the carton, finds the matching line, and it is resealed within minutes. A line like “assorted household items” invites more cartons to be opened and a longer wait.

Is there customs duty on used furniture?

We hear this question constantly, and the honest answer is that customs alone decide how second-hand personal effects are handled in each consignment, under whatever rules apply on the day it ships. Your part is to have the papers in order: a detailed packing list that states the items are used, plus the recipient’s UAE residency documents. Al Rahwan will not promise figures it cannot control; it follows the process and tells you what is being asked for.

Documents Required for a Home Removal to the UAE

On the Saudi side four things are essential: a copy of your national ID or iqama, a contents list (the packing list), a Fasah mandate for the clearing agent, and the UAE recipient’s name, mobile number and address, plus the floor number, any lift, and the spot where loading happens. The UAE side may ask for more, depending on the rules that apply when you ship.

What you are sending Prepare in the Kingdom Possibly requested on entry to the UAE
Furniture and household contents Copy of national ID or iqama; numbered contents list; Fasah mandate for the agent; full name and address of the recipient Passport copy of the owner or recipient; their UAE residence visa or Emirates ID, or a work visa where residency is still pending; an Arabic-English contents list declaring everything second-hand; a letter mandating the clearing agent
Family car The istimara with both plates; a certificate allowing export; a copy of the registered owner’s identity; written consent from the financing bank if there is a loan; a mandate for anyone handing the car over on the owner’s behalf Set by the rules applicable on the shipping date
Loose cartons and cases ID or iqama copy; a short note of what each carton holds; recipient’s name and phone The recipient may be asked for ID
Office contents or trade goods The company’s CR, an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin Varies with the goods and the rules on the day

When should you send the documents?

Send them before loading day, never at the border. The commonest reason a truck gets stuck at the frontier is a missing paper nobody spotted earlier. That is why the Al Rahwan team asks for your copies several days ahead and has the agent check them; if something is missing, you find out at home rather than with your furniture parked at the crossing.

Shipping the Family Car with Your Household to the UAE

Few families move without their car. It does not go in the furniture truck: it rides a long multi-level car transporter, under a dust cover, with its wheels strapped to the deck, and reaches the UAE in 3–5 days. Owners of prestige cars can have them carried inside a fully enclosed transporter.

Multi-deck car carrier loaded with covered, strapped family cars on the road from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Family car shipping from Saudi Arabia to the UAE
Your car and how it travels Base price
Sedan in a slot on a transporter shared with other owners SAR 1,100
Sedan on an open transporter running for you alone SAR 1,650
4×4 in a slot on a shared transporter SAR 1,400
4×4 on an open transporter of your own SAR 2,050
Prestige car in a fully closed box transporter SAR 2,300

Car documents and preparation

Have the istimara (registration) and plates ready, get an export certificate, and include a copy of the owner’s ID. A car still under bank finance cannot leave without the bank’s written consent, and anyone delivering someone else’s car needs the owner’s mandate. Before handover, clear out your belongings, leave only a little fuel in the tank, and photograph all four sides and the odometer.

Does the car arrive on the same day as the furniture?

Not necessarily, because the carrier leaves when its decks are full and the furniture truck leaves when loading is finished. The team coordinates the two as closely as it can, so if you are flying to the UAE you will find your car has arrived ahead of you or follows within a few days.

Air Freight for Urgent Items to the UAE

Some things cannot sit in a truck for days. First-week clothes, work files, the laptop, the children’s school bags: send these by plane and they land within 24–48 hours, while the rest of the house goes by road.

Urgent wrapped parcels and suitcases being prepared for air freight at a Saudi airport bound for the UAE
Air freight for urgent items from Saudi Arabia to the UAE

Air consignments depart from the three big Saudi airports, King Khalid (Riyadh), King Abdulaziz (Jeddah) and King Fahd (Dammam), and arrive at Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airports. The fare is set on chargeable weight: the scale weight is compared with the volumetric weight and the larger one is billed. Volumetric weight equals length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 6000.

Take a carton of 50 × 40 × 30 cm. Multiplied out that is 60,000; divide by 6000 and the volumetric weight is 10 kg. Even if the scale reads 6 kg, the bill is worked on 10. So when flying things, choose boxes that fit the contents tightly and keep air for light, urgent items only. Air has no fixed per-kilo rate; Al Rahwan prices each consignment line by line on its chargeable weight.

Only a Few Boxes? Sending Cartons and Cases on Their Own

Not every move is a full home. Sometimes the furniture has been sold and only what is worth taking remains: clothes, books, kitchenware and a few small appliances. These go by road by the piece or by the kilo:

  • Parcel, 5 kg maximum: SAR 110 and up.
  • Box of 20 kg or less: SAR 140 and up.
  • Travel case to 30 kg: SAR 230 and up.
  • Larger volumes by weight: SAR 9 per kilo and up.

A tip from experience: a carton heavier than 20 kg is hard to carry and its base is prone to tearing. Spread books and heavy tools across small cartons, and keep the large cartons for light things such as pillows and clothes.

Office and Business Moves to the UAE

Sometimes what moves is an office rather than a house: a small firm opening in Dubai, or an engineering practice restarting in Abu Dhabi. Desks and chairs are numbered to their place on the new floor plan, steel cabinets need extra hands, and electronics go back into their original boxes where kept, otherwise into padded cartons. This is a commercial consignment, so trade papers apply: the commercial register (CR), a commercial invoice, a packing list and a certificate showing origin. A pallet starts at SAR 740, a twenty-foot container at SAR 2,300, a forty-foot at SAR 3,500, and a whole trailer at SAR 6,500. Moving over a weekend saves days of downtime.

What Cannot Travel with Your Household to the UAE

Certain things may never board the truck, others may board only with approval or a declaration, and either way customs have the last word.

Category Examples
Never carried Drugs, guns and ammunition, explosives, highly flammable substances, gas bottles, any fuel, counterfeit brands, dangerous chemicals
Carried with approval or declaration Medicines beyond personal quantities, drones, two-way radios and similar transmitters, very large batteries, plants, food that must be kept chilled

Easily forgotten: the gas bottle under the cooker or behind a winter heater, a jerrycan of petrol in the villa storeroom, and cans of bug spray. Clear them out before the packers arrive so they never end up in a box.

Insuring Your Household and Protecting Furniture on the Road

Al Rahwan does not force insurance on anyone; it is added at booking only if you choose it. Two things underpin it: the value you put on your furniture, and the photographed inventory made on packing day. It appears as its own priced line in the quote, so you decide knowing the cost. We would call it essential if your home holds expensive pieces or new appliances.

But insurance is no substitute for good packing; the best insurance claim is the one you never need to make. Real protection comes from the right materials for each piece, tight loading and a closed truck. On arrival, check the cartons and pieces against the inventory before signing, and if you spot an issue, note it on the list itself with the crew present.

Following Your Shipment Stage by Stage

No need to keep ringing to ask where things are. Al Rahwan messages you at four moments:

Doors closedOnce loading is complete and you have signed the list, with the count of items and cartons.
At the Al Batha crossingOnce Saudi export formalities are complete.
On reaching the delivery cityTo agree the unloading time with the recipient and the building management.
At deliveryAfter unloading, reassembly and signing for receipt.

Between those messages, ring whenever you like from 7 am up to 11 pm and someone will tell you where your shipment has got to.

When the Dates Do Not Match: Storing Your Household

Dates rarely line up perfectly. A lease in Dammam might run out weeks before the Dubai flat is handed over, or you might spend your first fortnight in Abu Dhabi in a hotel while house-hunting. Either way the household can wait in storage, wrapped: in the Kingdom before you fly, or in the UAE until the new place is ready. Cost depends on volume and duration, so ask for it to be included in the itemised quote.

Delivery Across the Seven Emirates

Al Rahwan delivers households to every emirate in the country, with unloading, furnishing, reassembly and arrangement. This is how the areas are reached by trucks coming from Al Ghuwaifat:

Emirate Where we deliver Good to know
Abu Dhabi The capital, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra region Nearest to the truck, as the border post is on its land
Dubai All areas of Dubai Shipment details are registered on Mirsal
Sharjah The city itself plus Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan and Kalba Al Dhaid sits inland; the other two face the Gulf of Oman
Ajman Ajman and its areas Close to Sharjah
Umm Al Quwain Umm Al Quwain and its areas North of Ajman
Ras Al Khaimah Ras Al Khaimah and its areas In the far north
Fujairah Fujairah and its areas On the east coast

The Capital, Al Ain and Al Dhafra

This emirate is the first one the truck reaches, since Al Ghuwaifat lies within it. Families heading to Al Ain mostly move into villas or standalone houses, which makes unloading simpler than in towers, while those settling in the capital itself often live in island towers or gated compounds that need a permit arranged in advance.

Dubai

In Dubai, residential blocks are typically run by facilities management firms, each with its own rules: a booked service lift, a move-in permit from management, sometimes fixed unloading hours. The permit usually needs your tenancy contract and ID, so apply several days before the truck is due. A truck that turns up without one can spend a whole day waiting at the kerb.

Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain

Many people who work in Dubai live in these three neighbouring cities. Housing ranges from new towers to older walk-ups with no goods lift, which we ask about at the survey so that hand-carrying can be planned. We also deliver to Al Dhaid inland and to Khor Fakkan and Kalba across on the eastern seaboard.

Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah

The emirates furthest from Al Ghuwaifat, yet furniture reaches them within roughly the same window, because the stretch inside the UAE is short compared with the drive inside the Kingdom. Homes there are mostly villas and detached houses, so unloading and reassembly go faster.

Getting the new home ready before the truck arrives

Before the truck arrives, make sure of three things: that you or whoever is receiving has the key, that the building permit and service lift are booked, and that electricity and water are connected so the technician can run and test the air conditioners and appliances. A simple sketch of the room layout saves a full hour of questions on unloading day.

Common Mistakes When Moving Home to the UAE

  • Leaving the survey late: calling only a few days before your date leaves fewer options and less time.
  • Taking every last thing: tired furniture and ageing appliances often cost more on the road than to replace in the Emirates.
  • A vague inventory: “assorted items” lengthens customs inspection; a detailed list shortens it.
  • Forgetting the Dubai building permit: the truck arrives on time and then waits because the building was not informed.
  • Packing important papers with the furniture: passports, certificates and jewellery stay with you, not in cartons.
  • Leaving the gas cylinder in the kitchen: it is banned on the truck and will be found at packing or at the border.
  • Not measuring doors and lifts: the sofa that came into your Riyadh home may not fit a Dubai tower lift.
  • Trusting a phone price without a survey: it looks cheaper and then climbs on loading day.

How to Choose a Home Removals Company to the UAE

Six questions sort good movers from the rest: Will someone see the house before giving a price? Will the price come broken down service by service? Will you both sign an item list? Does their agent know Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat? Will they assemble everything at the other end or leave it boxed? And do they have a fixed number and an address you can actually reach? Clear, confident answers mean you can trust them with your home. A fuller comparison of movers is on our page for the Best home removals company from Saudi Arabia to the UAE.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the starting price to move a house from Saudi Arabia to the Emirates?

SAR 1,300 for a studio or single room, then SAR 2,500 for two bedrooms, SAR 4,100 for three bedrooms or more with appliances and SAR 8,300 for a villa; the final number follows a survey that costs you nothing.

In how many days do household goods reach the Emirates from Saudi cities?

2–3 for Riyadh, Dammam, Al Khobar and Al Ahsa; 3–4 for Qassim; 3–5 for Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Taif; 4–6 for Tabuk, Khamis Mushait and Abha, all counted from the day the truck doors close.

Through which crossing does a household truck enter the Emirates?

Al Batha on the Saudi side and Al Ghuwaifat in Abu Dhabi, the sole road link between the two countries, after which the truck can head for any of the seven emirates.

Is a house move charged on weight or on truck space?

Mostly on space, since a wardrobe is light but bulky; loads sent by the kilo start at SAR 9, and air consignments are billed on chargeable weight.

Are dismantling and putting furniture back together included?

Yes, the base price for any home covers taking apart, wrapping, loading, the road, unloading and reassembly, and special lines such as AC units or crates are added only if the survey finds them.

Which papers do I need to move my household to the Emirates?

Four on the Saudi side: an ID or iqama copy, the contents list, a Fasah mandate for your clearing agent, and whoever receives in the UAE with their address; the UAE may also want a passport copy and UAE residency, depending on the rules when you ship.

Will I pay charges at Al Ghuwaifat on my second-hand furniture?

That is for customs alone to decide, consignment by consignment, under the rules in place on the shipping date; what helps is a detailed packing list that clearly states the goods are used.

What does it cost to send my car along with the household?

A sedan in a shared transporter slot is SAR 1,100, a 4×4 SAR 1,400, and SAR 2,300 buys a closed-box ride for a prestige car, with a 3 to 5 day trip.

Is sea freight cheaper for moving a home to the UAE?

Usually not, because sea freight to Jebel Ali is built for commercial containers and needs handling at two ports plus trucking at both ends, while road moves the home door to door in one truck.

Can I send some items by air before the furniture?

Yes, an air consignment lands within 24–48 hours and is billed on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box is treated as 10 kg.

Can I insure my household while it is on the road?

Yes, ask for it when booking; it rests on the value you state and the photo inventory, and the quote lists its cost separately.

My Dubai flat is not ready yet; where does the furniture wait?

It can wait wrapped in storage on the Saudi side before you fly, or in the UAE after arrival until you get the keys, with the cost set by volume and duration in the quote.

Which emirates do you deliver household goods to?

Every one of the seven: the capital with Al Ain and Al Dhafra, Dubai, Sharjah including Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan and Kalba, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, including unloading, assembly and arranging.

When can I contact Al Rahwan to book a home removal?

Lines are staffed 7 am to 11 pm daily on 0568829975 for calls and WhatsApp, and the online form takes requests 24 hours.
