This page is written for people about to lock the door of a Riyadh home and open another in the Emirates: an employee transferred to a Dubai office, a resident whose contract in the capital has ended and who is joining family in Sharjah, or an Emirati household that lived for many years in Al Yasmin or Al Rawdah and is heading back to Al Ain or Abu Dhabi. You will find the route and transit time in figures, what each type of home costs to move, how the crew handles walk-up blocks in the east, towers in the north and villas in Hittin and Al Malqa, what happens at the two border posts, how your car travels with the furniture, and what deserves to fly ahead of everything else.

Riyadh to your UAE home

  • Route: Riyadh, Al-Ahsa, the Al Batha crossing, then Al Ghuwaifat; Abu Dhabi lies roughly 960 km away, Dubai roughly 1,060 km.
  • Transit: 2–3 days from the moment the truck is sealed until delivery, with a survey day and a packing day (or several, for villas) beforehand.
  • Starting prices: room or studio SAR 1,300, two-bedroom flat SAR 2,500, full apartment SAR 4,100, villa SAR 8,300.
  • Your car: sedan on a shared carrier from SAR 1,100, 4×4 from SAR 1,400, arriving in 3–5 days.
  • Air: 24–48 hours from King Khalid Airport for anything that cannot wait, priced on chargeable weight.
  • Customs: a Fasah authorisation before exit, entry completed at Al Ghuwaifat, and a Mirsal entry when the destination is Dubai.
  • Coverage: every Riyadh district and the towns of the region, with delivery, placement and reassembly across all seven emirates.

The Road from Riyadh to the UAE: Al Batha, Al Ghuwaifat and Transit Time

Removals trucks use a single overland road between Riyadh and the Emirates. The truck heads east to Al-Ahsa, continues to the Al Batha crossing on the Saudi side of the border, and passes into Al Ghuwaifat, which belongs to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. There is no other land border between the two countries, so every home that leaves Riyadh goes through these two posts, whichever emirate it is bound for. Riyadh to Abu Dhabi is about 960 km and Riyadh to Dubai about 1,060 km, and the same truck carries your furniture from your old front door to the new one without unloading at a port or an intermediate warehouse.

Stage What happens
Riyadh → Al-Ahsa The journey begins on the eastern highway once the truck is sealed and the inventory signed
Al-Ahsa → Al Batha crossing The last stretch inside the Kingdom before exit formalities
Al Batha → Al Ghuwaifat Two facing posts: Saudi exit, then UAE entry with a customs inspection where needed
Al Ghuwaifat → Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra The first places the truck reaches inside the UAE; Riyadh to Abu Dhabi is about 960 km
Abu Dhabi → Dubai and the northern emirates Dubai is about 1,060 km from Riyadh, with Sharjah and Ajman next, then Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah

Timing varies a little with what you are moving, because a complete household needs paperwork, unloading and reassembly, while a parcel simply joins the next trip:

What you send from Riyadh Loading to delivery Note
Flat or villa contents on a dedicated truck 2–3 days After a survey day and one or more days of packing
Part load or single room, shared truck 2–3 days The truck leaves once its load is complete
Cartons, suitcases and parcels 2–3 days Grouped on the regular Riyadh departures
A car on a carrier 3–5 days Multi-deck transporter that leaves when its decks are full
Urgent items by plane 24–48 hours From King Khalid Airport to Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah

Why is transit counted from loading rather than from booking?

Because the days before loading differ from one home to the next. A studio in Al Sahafa can be wrapped and loaded in a single morning, while a two-storey villa with an annexe in Hittin may need two or three packing days before the truck moves. Al Rahwan therefore gives you the survey date, then the packing days, then a delivery window that starts when the truck doors close, so you know when to hand your Riyadh keys back to the landlord and when to collect the keys to the new place.

Road or sea for a Riyadh household?

Some customers ask about sea containers because they have heard they are cheaper for big loads. Sea freight to the UAE leaves King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam or Jeddah Islamic Port for Jebel Ali and is used for full container loads (FCL) or shared consolidation (LCL) of commercial cargo. A home leaving Riyadh, however, would first travel by truck to Dammam, be unloaded at the port and lifted onto the ship, then unloaded again at Jebel Ali and put on a second truck to the house. Every extra handling adds cost and another chance of a scratch, so the sea does not become the cheaper option simply because the load is large.

Point of comparison Road via Al Batha Sea to Jebel Ali
Number of unloadings Once, outside the new home At Dammam, at Jebel Ali, then outside the home
Time from Riyadh 2–3 days Longer, because of two ports and the road links
Best suited to Flats, villas and cars Large commercial containers
Who dismantles and reassembles The same Al Rahwan crew from start to finish Several parties along the way

What a Riyadh to UAE Home Removal Costs

Moving house from Riyadh to the UAE begins at SAR 1,300 for a single room or studio, SAR 2,500 for a two-bedroom flat with its majlis and kitchen, SAR 4,100 for a full apartment of three or more bedrooms with appliances, and SAR 8,300 for a villa. These are starting prices; your own home gets its figure once the free survey is done, set out in an itemised quote that shows the cost of every service.

Type of move from Riyadh Starting price
Contents of one room or a studio flat from SAR 1,300
Two-bedroom flat with majlis and kitchen from SAR 2,500
Large flat of three or more bedrooms with appliances from SAR 4,100
Villa with its floors and annexe from SAR 8,300
Sedan sharing a car carrier from SAR 1,100
4×4 on a shared carrier from SAR 1,400
Luxury car inside an enclosed carrier from SAR 2,300
Carton up to 20 kg from SAR 140
Suitcase up to 30 kg from SAR 230
A full trailer reserved for your load from SAR 6,500

To picture the figure for your own home, here are situations that come up again and again in Riyadh requests, calculated by adding the starting prices as they stand:

  • A single employee in a studio in Al Sahafa with a sedan car: 1,300 + 1,100 = SAR 2,400 starting price.
  • A couple in a two-bedroom flat in Qurtubah shipping their sedan: 2,500 + 1,100 = SAR 3,600 starting price.
  • A family in a four-bedroom flat in Al Malqa with a 4×4: 4,100 + 1,400 = SAR 5,500 starting price.
  • A villa in Hittin plus two cars, a 4×4 and a sedan: 8,300 + 1,400 + 1,100 = SAR 10,800 starting price.
  • A villa in Irqah and a luxury car in an enclosed carrier: 8,300 + 2,300 = SAR 10,600 starting price.

Is a removal priced by weight or by volume?

Homes are priced by volume, not weight. The surveyor estimates how much space your furniture will take up in the truck in cubic metres, and that decides the truck type, the size of the crew and the number of packing days. Small quantities that do not fill a meaningful part of a truck are charged by the kilo, from SAR 9 per kilo for bulk amounts. Air freight alone is charged on chargeable weight, explained in its own section below.

What is included in the price of a home, and what is quoted after the survey?

The price of a room, flat or villa covers dismantling, wrapping, numbering, loading, transport, unloading, reassembly and placement in the new home. A made-to-measure wooden crate for a particular piece, taking down split air-conditioning units, storage and insurance are each priced after the free survey and shown as separate lines, so you pay only for what you actually need.

Factors that raise or lower your price

  • How much you really have: a sparsely furnished three-bedroom flat costs less than a two-bedroom flat packed with pieces.
  • Floor and lift: a fifth floor with no lift in a block in Al Naseem takes more hands and more time than a ground-floor villa.
  • Distance to the truck: if the truck can only park well away from the entrance, a shuttle by trolley or small vehicle is added.
  • Special pieces: marble, chandeliers and paintings that need fitted wooden crates.
  • Truck type: a truck reserved for you alone costs more than space on a shared one.

Riyadh Districts Served by the Al Rahwan Crew

The Al Rahwan crew reaches every district of Riyadh, but the way the work is done changes from one side of the city to another. The north has many modern villas and flats in newer blocks with lifts; the east has multi-storey residential buildings, some without a lift; the west has large family houses with spacious majlis rooms; and the south has standalone houses and older blocks. The surveyor knows these differences, so he asks about the street and where the truck can park before he asks how many rooms you have.

Area Districts include What matters on loading day
North Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Malqa, Hittin, Al Sahafa, Al Arid Villas with several floors and annexes, compounds with gate security, and streets that usually allow the truck to stop
East Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Qurtubah, Ishbiliyah, Al Rayyan Multi-storey blocks, some reached only by stairs, so the crew size is planned around that
West Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Irqah Large Arabic majlis sets and heavy sofas, plus villas with outdoor areas and garden furniture
South Al Shifa, Al Aziziyah, Al Hazm Standalone houses and blocks; agreeing where the truck will stand beforehand saves time

An example from the east: a family on the fourth floor of a block in Al Rayyan, with a narrow turn in the staircase. The carpenter takes the wardrobe down to panels before it is wrapped instead of trying to carry it out in one piece, and the big sofa is covered in a thick blanket and carried by two men at each end. An example from the north: a villa in Al Narjis with a high kerb and a tree out front, so the owner agrees for the truck to wait in the side street, and boards are laid on the marble steps so the trolleys do not mark them.

Truck parkingTell the surveyor where the truck can stop: at the door or in a side street, and whether a kerb or carport canopy is in the way.
Lift and stairsMeasure the stairwell and lift if you can, and let the crew know if the lift is small or out of order.
Guard and neighboursLet the building guard or compound security know when the crew is coming and how many people to expect.

Moving Out of Riyadh Tower Apartments and Residential Compounds

A flat in a residential tower moves according to the building rules, not just the removal company rules. Most tower managements in Riyadh ask for the service lift to be booked in advance, set loading hours that keep clear of residents, and may want the names or ID copies of the crew. Al Rahwan arranges this with you before the day, lines the walls and floor of the lift with boards and felt so nothing gets scratched, and protects the corridors and door frames on your floor.

In residential compounds, where many expatriates live, entry goes through a security gate that needs advance permission for the truck, and sometimes large trucks are not allowed inside at all. In that case the trailer or large truck waits at the gate and a smaller vehicle shuttles the wrapped furniture from the house. This arrangement is noted at the survey and included in the quote, so loading day brings no surprises.

Leaving a compound at the end of a contract

A resident whose contract is ending usually needs two consecutive days: one for the crew to pack and load, and another to hand the house back to the compound after inspection. It is best to load at least a day before the handover, so that if something turns up forgotten in the store room or on the roof there is still time to add it to the inventory.

Moving Large Riyadh Villas to the Emirates

A Riyadh villa is not just a big flat. It has a men’s majlis with heavy Arabic seating, a family living room, bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, an outside annexe, a store room on the roof, garden furniture and outdoor seating, and sometimes a gym or a library. That is why a villa starts from SAR 8,300, and why the surveyor fixes the number of packing days before loading and may suggest a full trailer or two trucks instead of one.

Work in a villa runs from the top down: the roof and store room first, then the bedrooms, then the majlis and living room, and the kitchen on the last day because the family needs it until the end. Cartons are numbered by room and floor, so when they reach a villa in Al Ain or a flat in Dubai the crew knows where each one goes without asking you about every box.

Heavy pieces in villas

A dining table with a marble top, a steel safe, gym equipment and a double-door fridge all need more than two people and lifting straps, and some need a wooden crate. If the villa has a winding internal staircase or a narrow door, the crew looks at lowering the piece from the balcony with ropes or a crane where the building allows, which is agreed at the survey and priced as a separate line.

Moving from Towns in the Riyadh Region: Al Kharj, Diriyah, Al Muzahimiyah, Al Dawadmi, Al Majmaah, Al Zulfi and Shaqra

If you live outside the capital in one of the region’s towns, you do not have to bring your furniture into Riyadh yourself. The crew comes to the house in Al Kharj, Diriyah or Al Muzahimiyah, surveys, wraps and loads it there, and the load then joins the Riyadh departure heading for Al Batha. The day the crew reaches your town and the departure date from Riyadh are agreed at booking and shown in the itemised quote.

Town How it is served
Diriyah, Al Kharj and Al Muzahimiyah Survey, packing and loading at the house, then joining the Riyadh trip
Al Dawadmi and Shaqra Loading at the house on an agreed day, consolidated through Riyadh
Al Majmaah and Al Zulfi Loading at the house, or small loads gathered and brought to Riyadh

A few cartons and suitcases from these towns can be handed over in Riyadh itself if that suits you better, but a whole household is best wrapped where it stands, because driving unwrapped furniture to Riyadh in your own vehicle exposes it to scratches that nobody will cover.

Your Moving Timeline Before Leaving Riyadh

Most of the stress in moving house comes from running out of time, not from the road. This is a practical schedule that many Al Rahwan customers in Riyadh follow:

When What to do
A month ahead Book the survey, set the loading date, and ask the building management in the UAE about the move permit and lift booking
Two weeks ahead Sort what is not coming: sell or donate old pieces, and clear the store room and the roof
A week ahead Prepare the papers: ID or iqama, the Fasah authorisation, consignee details in the UAE, and car documents if any
Two days ahead Switch off and dry the fridge, and pack a bag for the first days plus important documents to keep with you
Loading day Go through the inventory and sign it, and walk round the rooms, roof and yard before the truck is closed
Arrival day Be at the new home or appoint someone to receive, check the cartons against the inventory, and show the crew where things go

The Survey and Photo Inventory Before Pricing

No final number for a whole household is given by Al Rahwan on a phone call. The survey is free in every Riyadh district and is done either by a visit or over a video call while you carry the phone from room to room. The surveyor notes each room and its contents, measures the pieces that may not fit through the door, counts the air-conditioning units, and asks about glass, antiques and whatever you plan to leave behind.

The survey produces a photo inventory: every large piece has a number and a picture, and every carton has a number and the name of its room. You sign this list on loading day, check it on delivery day, and any insurance you choose is based on it. That sheet is what actually protects you, because it records what left Riyadh and in what condition.

Dismantling and Packing Each Item in the House

Good packing does not mean wrapping everything in plastic. Each piece has its own method, and the trip from Riyadh to the Emirates is long and hot for most of the year, so a closed truck alone is not enough if the wrapping is weak.

Bedrooms and wardrobes

Beds and wardrobes come apart into panels; their screws and hinges are bagged in a small pouch taped to the same panel and marked with its number. Panels are wrapped in paper and then a blanket, corners get cardboard protectors, and mirrors fixed to the wardrobe are removed and wrapped separately. That way the carpenter rebuilds the room in the UAE exactly as it was without hunting for a missing screw.

Glass, mirrors and ornaments

Glass table tops and large mirrors are wrapped in several layers: soft paper, then bubble wrap, then stiff board on both faces, marked “glass” with the direction for carrying. Valuable ornaments and paintings can go into a made-to-measure wooden crate if you ask, priced after the survey.

Air conditioners

A window unit is removed and wrapped as it is. A split unit needs a technician to pump the gas back into the outdoor unit before the pipes are disconnected, so the gas is not lost and the unit is not damaged. Taking down air conditioners is priced after the survey according to how many there are and where the outdoor units sit.

Rugs and carpets

Hand-made rugs are shaken free of dust and rolled, never folded, with paper between the layers, then covered to keep dirt out. Fitted carpet is usually left in the house unless you ask for it and it can be lifted without damage.

Kitchen and appliances

The fridge goes off a day ahead of loading and left open to dry, the washing machine drum is secured before the move, and the glass doors of the oven and microwave are wrapped. Crockery is wrapped piece by piece in paper and stood upright in divided cartons. Wooden or aluminium kitchen cabinets are taken down and numbered if you decide to bring them, and fitted in the new home if its kitchen measurements allow.

The Crew in Riyadh and in the UAE

Moving from Riyadh to the Emirates takes more than porters. For a single home, the Al Rahwan crew is made up of a supervisor who keeps the inventory and answers your questions, packers who know the difference between wrapping wood and wrapping leather, a carpenter who takes down and rebuilds wardrobes and bedrooms, a technician for air conditioners and appliances when needed, and a driver who knows the procedures at both border posts.

  • Supervisor: holds the inventory, signs it with you and decides the loading order inside the truck.
  • Packers: work room by room and write the number and room name on every carton.
  • Carpenter: dismantles and numbers parts in Riyadh, and reassembles them in the UAE.
  • Technician: takes down air conditioners, prepares the washer and fridge for travel, and reconnects them on arrival if you ask.
  • Arrival team: unloads, places, reassembles and arranges in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate.

The crew treats the house as if it were their own: shoes off when asked, floors covered, personal drawers opened only with you present, and the place left clear of cardboard and tape offcuts.

Packing Materials and Equipment Used on the Move

Quality in a household move shows in the small details. These are the materials and tools the Al Rahwan crew uses in Riyadh homes:

Material or tool What it is used for
Double-wall cartons in several sizes Books in the small ones, clothes and bedding in the large ones, crockery in divided boxes
Bubble wrap and soft paper Glass, crockery, ornaments and small appliances
Thick removal blankets Sofas, woodwork and tables, so they do not rub against each other
Cardboard and foam corner guards Edges of wardrobes, tables and frames
Boards and felt for floors and lifts Protecting marble, parquet and lift walls
Trolleys and lifting straps Heavy pieces and large appliances
Load straps inside the truck Keeping the load still all the way to Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat

The load is built with the heaviest items low down and against the truck walls, light items and delicate cartons on top, and gaps filled with blankets so nothing shifts when the truck brakes or hits a bump.

Trucks: Dyna, Trailer and Closed Box, Shared or Dedicated

The size of your home decides the truck, not the company preference. Every Al Rahwan truck carrying household goods to the UAE is a closed box, so dust and sun never reach the furniture.

Load size Suitable truck When it is chosen
A room or a few pieces Space on a shared closed truck When you do not need a fixed delivery day
Two-bedroom flat Medium closed truck or a large share of a shared one Depending on how flexible your date is
Full apartment Dedicated closed truck When you want loading and departure on a day you choose
Villa Full trailer from SAR 6,500, or two trucks Large loads and long pieces

A small dyna is used inside Riyadh when the big truck cannot enter the district or compound, carrying the wrapped furniture out to the large truck waiting on the main road. A shared truck costs less but waits until its load is complete, while a dedicated truck leaves on the agreed day.

Loading Day and Crossing Al Batha and Al Ghuwaifat

Loading day starts with you and the supervisor walking through the inventory together. Pieces go into the truck in a planned order, the truck is closed, the list is signed, and you receive a message that the load has left Riyadh. On the road the truck heads for Al-Ahsa and then the Al Batha crossing.

At Al Batha the Saudi exit formalities are completed by the customs broker you authorised on the Fasah platform. The truck then crosses to Al Ghuwaifat, where entry is completed with Abu Dhabi Customs, and some cartons may be opened for inspection. This is where a clear inventory pays off: the more detailed it is in Arabic and English, the faster things move. A second message reaches you once Al Batha is behind the truck.

Before loading: keep passports, residence cards, gold, cash, school papers and daily medicines with you, and never put them in removal cartons, however secure the truck is.

Arriving in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah and the Other Emirates

After Al Ghuwaifat, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra region are the closest cities to the truck, before it heads on to Dubai and the emirates beyond it: Sharjah and Ajman, with Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain further north, while Fujairah sits out on the east coast. The arrival team calls ahead to confirm the home is ready and the lift is booked, then unloads, places the furniture, reassembles the bedrooms and wardrobes, and puts each carton in its room.

Emirate Where we deliver Worth knowing
Abu Dhabi Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain, Al Dhafra The first stop after Al Ghuwaifat
Dubai All areas, towers and communities Mirsal entry and a move permit from the building management
Sharjah Sharjah city, Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan, Kalba Unloading time agreed with the guard or management
Ajman and Umm Al Quwain Their towns and residential areas Delivery, placement and reassembly
Ras Al Khaimah The city and its residential areas Delivery day agreed in advance
Fujairah The city and the east coast Delivery day agreed in advance

What is different about moving from Riyadh to Dubai?

Dubai is the destination Riyadh customers ask for most, and it has its own rules: many buildings are run by facilities management companies that require a move-in permit and a service lift booking ahead of the date, and they set unloading hours. So the Al Rahwan team will ask you to contact the building management before loading in Riyadh, not after the truck arrives. On the customs side, loads bound for Dubai are entered in Mirsal, the Dubai Customs system.

Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra

Abu Dhabi is about 960 km from Riyadh and is the first stop after Al Ghuwaifat, so furniture usually gets there before Dubai within the same window. Al Ain is a favourite for families returning home, and its houses are mostly villas with gardens, so the crew plans the unloading around their entrances. Deliveries in Al Dhafra are made on an agreed date.

Sharjah and the northern emirates

Loads for the northern emirates and the east coast arrive inside the same window, after Dubai: Sharjah and Ajman first, then Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. In residential towers in Sharjah and Ajman the unloading time is coordinated with the guard or management, and in Al Dhaid, Khor Fakkan and Kalba the delivery day is agreed in advance.

Shipping the Family Cars from Riyadh to the UAE with Your Furniture

Most families moving house from Riyadh take one or two cars with them. The car travels on a long multi-deck carrier, covered and strapped at the wheels, and arrives within 3–5 days of loading; it may arrive a day before or after the furniture depending on when the carrier fills. Luxury cars go inside a fully enclosed carrier.

Car type and method Starting price
Sedan on a shared carrier from SAR 1,100
Sedan on a dedicated open carrier (flatbed) from SAR 1,650
4×4 on a shared carrier from SAR 1,400
4×4 on a dedicated open carrier from SAR 2,050
Luxury car inside an enclosed carrier from SAR 2,300
Multi-deck car carrier loaded with covered, strapped cars travelling from Riyadh to the UAE
Car shipping from Riyadh to the UAE with your household move

Car documents: the registration card (istimara), the plates, the export certificate, proof of the owner’s identity, a finance company letter if the car is still under finance, and written consent if a third party is delivering it. The car must be handed over empty of personal belongings, so do not treat it as an extra carton: whatever is inside is outside the inventory and outside any insurance.

If you plan to drive your own car to the Emirates, that is your choice, but a family with two cars will need a second driver, which is why many people ship one car and drive the other, or ship both and fly.

Cartons, Suitcases and Parcels from Riyadh

Not everyone leaving Riyadh for the Emirates is moving a whole home. A student starting university in Sharjah, or an employee going into a furnished flat in Dubai, may only need a few cartons and suitcases. Prices begin at SAR 110 for a parcel of no more than 5 kg, through SAR 140 for a 20 kg carton, to SAR 230 for a suitcase weighing up to 30 kg, and larger quantities are charged by the kilo from SAR 9.

Example: an employee sending 4 cartons of clothes and books and two suitcases pays (4 × 140) + (2 × 230) = 560 + 460 = SAR 1,020 as a starting price. If the amount grows close to the contents of a room, it works out better to book it as a room from SAR 1,300, which includes wrapping and delivery.

Moving Offices and Commercial Equipment from Riyadh to the UAE

Companies opening an office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or moving part of their administration there, need desks, chairs, filing cabinets and equipment moved. Office furniture is dismantled and numbered by department, and equipment is packed in reinforced cartons. Commercial cargo has its own prices: SAR 740 upwards for a pallet, SAR 2,300 upwards for a twenty-foot container, SAR 3,500 upwards for a forty-foot one, and SAR 6,500 upwards for an entire trailer.

Business cargo travels on its own papers: the company’s CR, an invoice for the goods, a packing list and an origin certificate, and its procedures differ from those for used personal effects, so do not mix new office furniture with household goods in one shipment.

Air Freight from King Khalid Airport to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah

Some belongings are needed before the truck arrives: the first week’s clothes, work tools, school papers, or something a child needs every night. Flights out of Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport land cargo at Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah within 24–48 hours and is charged on chargeable weight in an itemised quote.

Airlines charge whichever is higher: what the scale shows, or the volumetric figure found by multiplying the three dimensions in centimetres, then dividing that by 6000. Take a 50 × 40 × 30 cm box: its volumetric figure is 10 kg, so even at 6 kg on the scale you pay for 10. That is why you should not fly a large carton of light pillows and bedding: it pays for its size, not its weight, and belongs on the truck.

Suits air freight Suits the truck
A suitcase of clothes for the first days Seasonal clothing and bedding
Work and school papers Books and old files
Light work tools you need straight away Large appliances and furniture

Paperwork for a Riyadh to UAE Household Move

To move your household from Riyadh you need, for the Saudi side: your ID or iqama copy, a contents inventory, the broker’s Fasah authorisation, and the consignee details in the UAE: name, mobile, address, floor, and whether there is a lift and a loading entrance. The UAE authority may want more papers for personal effects, depending on the rules in force when you ship.

Shipment type Documents
Household goods (Saudi side) Copy of ID or iqama, inventory (packing list), Fasah authorisation for the broker, consignee details and address
Household goods (UAE side, may be requested) Passport copy, copy of the UAE residence visa or Emirates ID, or the work visa if residence has not yet been issued, a detailed Arabic/English packing list stating the items are used, and an authorisation letter for the broker
Car Istimara, plates and export certificate, ID of the owner, and for financed cars a lender’s letter, plus a letter of authority where someone else sends it
Office furniture and goods Company registration, the commercial invoice, a packing list and proof of origin
Parcels and air freight Copy of ID or iqama, description of contents, consignee details

A practical tip: make the packing list bilingual from the start and write “used” next to the furniture and appliances, which shortens the time spent at Al Ghuwaifat.

Customs on Both Sides: Fasah, Al Ghuwaifat and Mirsal

On the Saudi side, the owner of the household goods authorises the customs broker electronically on Fasah, run by the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), after which the broker relies on it to clear the load out through Al Batha. On the UAE side, formalities are completed at Al Ghuwaifat with Abu Dhabi Customs, and when the destination is Dubai the details are entered in Mirsal, the Dubai Customs system.

Are there charges on used furniture? The customs authority determines the treatment of used personal effects under the regulations in force at shipping time; Al Rahwan tells you what is required before loading rather than at the border. Some cartons may be opened for inspection, so do not pack anything you would not want others to see, or anything on the restricted list.

Items That Cannot Travel with Your Furniture, and Items That Need Approval

The customs authority has the final word, but this list will spare you most problems:

Prohibited Needs approval or declaration
Narcotics Medicines in large quantities
Weapons and ammunition Drones
Explosives and flammable materials Wireless and radio equipment
Gas cylinders and fuel Large batteries
Counterfeit goods Plants
Hazardous chemicals Chilled foodstuffs

Riyadh homes keep turning up the same forgotten items: a camping gas bottle in the store room, cans of petrol for the generator or the garden bike, flammable aerosols, and months of blood-pressure or diabetes medicine. Take them out before packing, or mention them to the surveyor so he can tell you what is needed.

Insurance and Guarantee on Your Household Goods

Insurance at Al Rahwan is an option you request when booking. Cover is calculated on the value you state for your goods and on the photographed inventory, and it shows up in the quote as its own line. If your home holds expensive furniture or valuable appliances, insurance is worth its cost; if the furniture is modest, good packing and a careful inventory may be enough for you.

Before insurance comes everything that prevents damage in the first place: wrapping each piece in the right way, loading in order, strapping, the closed truck, and an inventory that records the state of each item before it leaves. On delivery you check the pieces against the same list before signing, and any remark is written down on the spot.

Tracking Your Household from Riyadh to the New Home

There is no need to keep phoning to find out where the furniture has got to. Four notifications reach you at the key points of the journey, and the booking team is ready to answer any question, daily, between 7 am and 11 pm:

  1. At loading, when the truck is closed in Riyadh.
  2. On crossing Al Batha.
  3. On arrival in the delivery city in the UAE.
  4. At delivery, when the inventory is signed.

Storing Furniture in Riyadh Before Travel or in the UAE After Arrival

Moving dates rarely fit together perfectly. The Riyadh lease might run out before the Dubai flat is ready, or you might arrive in Abu Dhabi and stay in a hotel until the villa is handed over. In those cases Al Rahwan provides storage, either in Saudi Arabia before departure or after arrival while you wait for your home to be ready. The furniture stays wrapped and numbered as it was, and the storage price is set after the survey depending on how much there is and for how long.

Booking a Riyadh to UAE Home Removal, Step by Step

  1. Get in touch: call 0568829975 or send your request through Request a shipping quote, mentioning your Riyadh district and your city in the UAE.
  2. Survey: a free visit or video call to estimate the volume and any special pieces.
  3. Quote: an itemised quote covering the move, the car and any extra services.
  4. Papers: ID or iqama copy, Fasah authorisation, consignee details and car documents.
  5. Packing and loading: on the agreed day, with a photo inventory and signatures.
  6. Crossing: Al Batha then Al Ghuwaifat, with a notification once the border is behind the truck.
  7. Delivery: unloading, placement, reassembly and arranging, then the inventory check and signature.

Al Rahwan Precautions and Working Standards on Every Move

Before the truck leaves Riyadh, the crew has gone through a list of precautions that is never left to an individual worker’s judgement:

  • A survey that identifies delicate pieces and their packing needs before loading day.
  • Protection for floors, lifts and doors in both the old and the new home.
  • Multi-layer wrapping for glass, wood and leather, each in the way that suits it.
  • Numbering of dismantled parts, with screws kept alongside their panels.
  • Ordered loading: heavy at the bottom, delicate on top, gaps filled.
  • A clear itemised quote before work starts, and an inventory signed by both sides at the start and the end.

These standards are what make a move from Riyadh to the Emirates predictable: you know the price before it starts, you know what left your home, and you know when it will arrive.

Offers on Home Removals from Riyadh to Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and the Other Emirates

Al Rahwan runs offers most of the time on home removals from Riyadh to the UAE, covering nearby destinations such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well as more distant ones like Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Offers depend on how full the shared truck departures are and on your moving date, so ask about them when you call and have them shown on the itemised quote if they apply to your move.

Anyone heading for Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah benefits from booking early, because trips to the northern emirates and the east coast are scheduled around demand; the sooner the team knows your date, the easier it is to fit you onto a suitable departure.

Errors That Trip People Up on a Riyadh to UAE Move

  • Leaving the survey late: booking it three days before departure leaves few options for the truck and the date.
  • Forgetting the building permit in the UAE: a truck that reaches a Dubai tower with no lift booking can wait a whole day.
  • Packing cartons without numbers: arrival day is then wasted searching for the kitchen things.
  • Putting important papers in the load: passports and certificates belong in your hand luggage.
  • Filling the car with belongings: whatever is in the car is outside the inventory and the insurance.
  • Moving what is not worth it: an old sofa or a worn mattress takes up space you pay for.
  • Accepting a price without a survey: it usually rises on loading day.
