The Eastern Province is the part of Saudi Arabia closest to Kuwait, and that changes almost everything about shipping from here compared with Riyadh or Jeddah: the truck does not have to cross the kingdom, the border post is Al Khafji rather than Al Ruqai, the transit is shorter, and most customers combine a house move with shipping the family car in the same week. On this page you will find the route in detail, starting prices for every type of shipment, real worked examples, the paperwork for individuals, traders and car owners, what happens at the border, and how delivery works in each Kuwaiti governorate.

The coastal route to Kuwait

  • Crossing: Al Khafji on the Saudi side, then Al Nuwaiseeb on the Kuwaiti side – the standard crossing for Dammam and the Eastern Province.
  • Transit time: 1 to 2 days for goods and household moves from loading to delivery, 2 to 4 days for cars, 24 to 48 hours by air.
  • Parcels: SAR 37 gets a parcel of 2 kg or less moving; at 10 kg the starting price is SAR 110.
  • Homes: SAR 1,390 to start for a small flat, SAR 2,300 once it is three bedrooms plus appliances, and SAR 3,700 for an entire villa.
  • Traders: a pallet from SAR 550, a 20 ft sea container from SAR 4,600.
  • First governorate on the road: Ahmadi, the closest to the Al Nuwaiseeb highway, followed by Mubarak Al Kabeer, Hawalli and the Capital.

Dammam to Kuwait along the coast: Al Khafji, then Al Nuwaiseeb

Al Rahwan trucks leave Dammam heading north on the coastal highway past the Jubail area, then keep running beside the Gulf until they reach Al Khafji in the far north-east of the kingdom. At the Al Khafji crossing the Saudi exit formalities are completed, and the truck then enters Kuwait’s Al Nuwaiseeb post. From there it heads into southern Kuwait, where Ahmadi Governorate lies, before shipments are distributed to the other governorates. This is the natural road for anything leaving the Eastern Province because it stays close to the coast the whole way and never needs to swing west towards Hafar Al Batin.

Road freight from Dammam to Kuwait

Customers sometimes ask why the shipment does not go through Al Ruqai like loads from Riyadh. The answer is that Al Ruqai sits in Hafar Al Batin Governorate and serves traffic coming from Riyadh and Qassim or from the west and north of the kingdom. From Dammam, going there would mean driving away from Kuwait only to come back towards it. That is why Al Rahwan sends anything collected in Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif, Jubail or Al Ahsa through Al Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb, and sends central and western loads through Al Ruqai and Al Salmi.

How long does shipping from Dammam to Kuwait take?

Expect one to two days on the road from Dammam to Kuwait, and start counting when the goods go onto the truck, not when you pick up the phone. A full house move adds a day for the survey and another for packing and taking furniture apart before loading; for small flats the two often happen on the same day. Parcels and cartons handed to Al Rahwan in the morning usually go out on that day’s run or the next, while cars need two to four days because the carrier waits to fill its decks with vehicles from the Eastern Province before setting off.

In practice, what stretches the transit is not the road but three things: missing paperwork discovered by the broker at the border, incomplete recipient details in Kuwait so the truck waits for a call nobody answers, or an undeclared item on the list that forces cartons to be opened. That is why Al Rahwan reviews the inventory and documents before loading, not at the border.

Eastern Province cities we collect from

City Example districts and areas Crossing Transit to Kuwait
Dammam Al Faisaliyah, Al Shati, Al Nuzha, Al Fayha, Al Mazruiyah, Second Industrial City Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days
Khobar Al Aqrabiyah, Al Thuqbah, Al Rakah, Al Olaya, Golden Belt, the Corniche Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days
Dhahran North and South Doha, Al Qusur, the university area Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days
Qatif Qatif city, Saihat, Safwa, Anak, Tarout Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days
Jubail Jubail old town, Jubail Industrial City, Al Fanateer Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days
Al Ahsa Hofuf, Mubarraz and surrounding villages Al Khafji → Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days

Gated residential compounds in Khobar and Dhahran usually require an entry permit for the loading crew and their truck, and the towers on the Corniche need the service lift booked in advance. Give Al Rahwan the name of the compound or tower when you book, so the permit and slot are arranged before the team arrives and the truck does not sit at the gate for an hour.

Car shipping from Dammam to Kuwait

Shipping a car from the Eastern Province to Kuwait is one of the most frequent requests, because many relocating families would rather not drive across the border themselves and then wait for the car’s formalities, and some want the car waiting in Kuwait on the day they fly in. Al Rahwan moves cars on multi-deck car carriers, every vehicle wrapped in a fitted cover with straps over the wheels, which keeps it still on the highway and clean of dust. Classic and high-value cars go in a carrier with closed sides and roof.

Car shipping from Dammam to Kuwait
Option Suits From Transit
Sedan on a shared carrier Small and mid-size family cars SAR 920 2–4 days
SUV on a shared carrier 4x4s, large family cars and pick-ups SAR 1,100 2–4 days
Dedicated carrier for your car Owners who need a fixed departure without waiting for a full load SAR 1,390 On the agreed date
Enclosed carrier Luxury, sports and classic cars SAR 4,150 On the agreed date

Al Rahwan looks into Kuwait’s import conditions for your particular make and model before you book; whether the car is accepted and can be registered there is a decision for the Kuwaiti authorities, applying whatever rules are in effect when it ships. Doing this early protects you from the car reaching Al Nuwaiseeb only for it to turn out that a procedure nobody prepared for is needed.

Car documents from the Eastern Province

  • Registration card and plates: a valid registration (istimara), with the Saudi plates handed in according to the export procedure.
  • Export certificate: issued before shipping; it is what allows the car to leave the kingdom permanently.
  • Owner’s ID: a copy of the national ID or iqama.
  • Bank letter: if the car is financed or mortgaged, it cannot leave without the lender’s consent.
  • Authorisation: if the person handing the car to Al Rahwan is not the owner.
  • Recipient details in Kuwait: who will collect it, with a mobile number and address, and possibly a copy of their Kuwaiti civil ID.

Getting your car ready for loading

About a quarter-tank of fuel is plenty; a brimmed tank is unnecessary and not safe on a carrier. Empty the car of personal belongings, because it travels as a vehicle, not as a luggage locker, and items inside can delay its inspection at the border. Before handing it over, take pictures of every side and the interior, write down the mileage, and hand over one key along with any gate remote. On delivery in Kuwait, the photos are compared with the car in front of you before you sign.

Motorcycles and special vehicles

Motorcycles travel fixed to a base or inside a wooden crate depending on type and value, with the same paperwork as a car. The same goes for small boats on their trailers, caravans and show cars. None of these has a fixed starting price: the surveyor prices them for free on sight, or you can send the length, weight and model and get a breakdown by return.

How much does shipping from Dammam to Kuwait cost?

The cheapest item on the Dammam–Kuwait lane is a parcel of 2 kg or under at SAR 37. Next comes SAR 140 for a 20 kg carton or case, then SAR 1,350 for a roomful of furniture, while a sedan on the shared carrier is SAR 920. All four are the bottom of the range; the bill you actually get reflects volume and weight, the number of items to dismantle or crate, and whether there are stairs or lifts at either end.

Item From (SAR)
Small parcel up to 2 kg 37
Parcel up to 10 kg 110
Carton or suitcase up to 20 kg 140
Per kg by road (larger quantities) 6.5
Per kg by air (chargeable weight) 28
Furniture of one room 1,350
Small flat (two bedrooms, majlis and kitchen) 1,390
Three-bedroom flat with appliances 2,300
Villa or whole house 3,700
Part load on a shared truck 1,290
Dedicated closed truck (transport only) 2,300
Sedan on a shared carrier 920
SUV on a shared carrier 1,100
Car on its own dedicated carrier 1,390
Luxury car in an enclosed carrier 4,150
Commercial pallet 550
20 ft container (sea) 4,600
40 ft container (sea) 7,800

Some services have no fixed figure: a timber crate built around a precious piece, taking down and refitting AC units, storage days, insurance and heavy machinery. The surveyor puts a price on each during the free visit, and each gets its own line in the quote so nothing is hidden inside another number.

Worked examples from Eastern Province homes

  • Small Khobar flat plus the employee’s sedan: flat 1,390, car 920, together SAR 2,310 as a starting point.
  • Three-bedroom flat in Al Faisaliyah, Dammam, and a family sedan: 2,300 for the flat and 920 for the car make SAR 3,220 at minimum.
  • Dhahran villa together with a 4×4: SAR 4,800 as a base, being 3,700 for the house and 1,100 for the 4×4.
  • A student sending 5 cartons of books and clothes from Qatif: 5 × 140 = SAR 700 to start.
  • A Jubail shop sending two pallets of stock: 2 × 550 = SAR 1,100 to start.
  • 200 kg of household goods by weight, by road: 200 × 6.5 = SAR 1,300 to start.

Why one quote is higher than another

The price rises when many pieces need dismantling and reassembly (kitchens, large wardrobes, air conditioners), when the home is on an upper floor with no lift, or when you need a dedicated truck on a fixed date. It drops when you sort your belongings before the survey, accept a part load on a shared truck with a flexible date, and pack the light cartons yourself while leaving the large and fragile items to the crew. Al Rahwan runs offers most of the time on certain shipment types, so ask about them when you call.

Moving furniture and household goods from Dammam to Kuwait, step by step

Moving a home from Dammam to Kuwait is not just loading a truck; it is a chain of stages, and any stage that is skipped shows up when the truck is unloaded in Kuwait. Al Rahwan runs every stage with one team, from the survey to placing the last piece in the new home.

1. The free survey and the inventory

An Al Rahwan surveyor visits your home in Dammam, Khobar or Qatif, or does a video call if the flat is small. Each large item is recorded by name (master bedroom, two children’s rooms, majlis, dining set, fridge, washing machine, air conditioners), the number of cartons is estimated, and items needing special care – mirrors, chandeliers, antiques, paintings, sensitive electronics – are noted. This survey produces the inventory (packing list) used for the quote, for the customs declaration and for checking delivery in Kuwait: one document serving three stages.

2. Packing by type of item

  • Upholstered sofas: wrapped first in paper or cotton sheeting, next in a removal blanket, and only then in plastic left slack so the upholstery can breathe – plastic tight against fabric holds in damp.
  • Leather sofas: a soft cover, then a blanket, with the corners protected from rubbing.
  • Glass and mirrors: corner guards and made-to-size rigid cardboard, loaded standing up rather than flat.
  • Plates and crystal: every item wrapped on its own and separated by card dividers, with the box labelled fragile and arrowed this-side-up.
  • Appliances: the fridge is emptied and dried the day before, the washing machine drum is locked with transit bolts where available, and screens are wrapped in bubble film and a dedicated carton.
  • Mattresses: sealed mattress bags to keep dust out.
  • Valuables and antiques: a crate built to the item’s dimensions, costed once it has been seen.

Each box is numbered and tagged with its destination room in the new home (Bedroom 1, Kids, Kitchen, Majlis), which lets the Kuwait crew carry it straight to the right place instead of asking you box by box.

3. Dismantling and reassembly by carpenters and technicians

The carpenter takes apart bedroom sets, large wardrobes, dining tables and desks, and puts each piece’s screws and hinges into a numbered bag taped to it. The technician removes split air conditioners, recovers the gas before disconnecting them and seals the openings. Kitchens come apart one cabinet at a time, every door and drawer given a number, but refitting them in Kuwait depends on the measurements of the new kitchen, so Al Rahwan asks for those measurements or a photo before the move to know whether it can go back as it was or needs adapting. In Kuwait the same crew reassembles the pieces it took apart and arranges them in the rooms the way you want.

4. Loading and transport in a closed truck

Heavy items go in first on the truck floor, cartons on top and around them, and the load is secured with straps and braces so nothing shifts. The closed truck is what crosses the border; a dyna or small pickup is used only when the street is too narrow for the large truck, shuttling items from the door to the nearest point where it can stand. For an upper floor with no lift, a furniture hoist through a window or balcony can be used and is agreed during the survey.

5. Crossing and clearance

After loading, the broker files the declaration on the Fasah platform using an electronic authorisation from you, and the truck crosses Al Khafji and then Al Nuwaiseeb, where the Kuwaiti formalities are completed. A customs inspector may ask for some cartons to be opened; this is routine, done in the presence of an Al Rahwan representative, and the cartons are resealed afterwards.

6. Arrival, unloading and assembly in Kuwait

When the truck arrives, the crew calls the recipient before the appointment, unloads the furniture and carries it into the rooms according to the carton codes, then puts the bedrooms, dining set and wardrobes back together and sets out the majlis. Items are checked against the inventory in front of you, and packing waste is collected before the crew leaves. If the home is in a building or tower in Salmiya, Fintas or Mahboula, reserve the goods lift and clear the move with the building office in advance.

7. After delivery

If a day or two later you notice a drawer that will not close properly or a door that needs adjusting, contact Al Rahwan on the same number. This is exactly why the photos taken before packing and the signed inventory stay with you: they are your reference for any follow-up.

Cartons, parcels, suitcases and dates from the Eastern Province

Not everyone shipping from Dammam to Kuwait is moving a house. Many small shipments are sent by people to relatives, by students moving their books and clothes, or by employees sending two suitcases ahead of their families. These go on shared runs, so they cost far less than booking a whole space.

Shipment type Limit From Note
Small parcel (papers, gift, accessory) Up to 2 kg SAR 37 Packed in a mailer or rigid box
Medium parcel Up to 10 kg SAR 110 Suits online-store orders
Carton or suitcase Up to 20 kg SAR 140 Suitcases are locked and wrapped
Larger quantities By the kilo SAR 6.5 per kg by road Charged on actual weight

Dates: few things travel from the Eastern Province to Kuwait as often as dates, whether as presents for relatives or as shop stock. Factory-sealed boxes or cartons ship easily; loose dates are packed in sealed food bags inside a strong carton. Any foodstuff is admitted on the terms Kuwait’s authorities apply when it ships, and trade-sized quantities need trade-goods paperwork.

Online-store products: if you sell from Dammam or Khobar to customers in Kuwait, your weekly orders can be consolidated into a single shipment by the kilo and then distributed to addresses in Kuwait. This costs less than sending each order on its own and needs an invoice per order.

Electronics and phones: they ship in their original boxes where possible, with invoices, and are listed by type and quantity. Large loose batteries need to be declared.

Commercial cargo from Dammam and Jubail factories

The Eastern Province is a region of factories and warehouses, and Kuwait is a nearby market, so goods of every kind move between them daily: building materials, spare parts, plastic products, sanitary ware, packaged food, office furniture and supplies for restaurants and hotels. Al Rahwan ships these goods from Dammam’s Second Industrial City, from Khobar warehouses and from Jubail Industrial City in the following ways:

  • Full truckload (FTL): a dedicated closed truck for your goods alone; transport starts from SAR 2,300 and leaves on the date you set.
  • Less than truckload (LTL): your goods share a truck with other traders’ cargo, from SAR 1,290, which suits anyone supplying medium quantities every week or two.
  • Pallets: one pallet starts from SAR 550, the cleanest way to move stock already wrapped on platforms.
  • Equipment and machinery: generators, compressors, workshop machines and heavy equipment travel on trailers suited to their weight, priced after the survey, with cranes for loading and unloading.

Businesses carry a heavier paper load than individuals: a copy of their CR, the sales invoice, a breakdown of what sits in each package, the name and details of whoever imports it into Kuwait, and, where customs wants it, proof of where the goods were made. The more detailed the invoice is by item, quantity and value, the faster clearance goes at Al Nuwaiseeb.

Shipments for institutions

Al Rahwan also handles shipments for institutions: schools moving furniture and teaching aids, hospitals and clinics moving medical devices that need anti-vibration packing, hotels and restaurants moving hospitality supplies and commercial kitchens, and diplomatic missions moving office assets. In these cases the institution’s property is kept separate from the employee’s personal effects on two separate lists, because each has its own paperwork and clearance route.

Sea freight in containers from King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam

Dammam is a port city, so traders often ask about sea freight to Kuwait. Boxes are loaded at King Abdulaziz Port and discharged in Kuwait at either Shuwaikh or Shuaiba; budget from SAR 4,600 for a twenty-footer and from SAR 7,800 for a forty-footer. This option is meant for large commercial containers only: importers moving full consignments or factories shipping production by container.

For household moves, Al Rahwan only mentions sea freight as a comparison, because a road truck gets there in one to two days from door to door, while a container needs a local haul to the port, a wait for sailing, port clearance in Kuwait and then another local haul. If you have a whole home, a dedicated truck is faster and involves less handling.

Transit shipments through Dammam to Kuwait

Some goods do not start their journey in Dammam but arrive there from overseas. A Kuwaiti trader, for example, imports goods that land by sea at King Abdulaziz Port and wants them trucked on to Kuwait without entering the Saudi market. That is transit: the goods are moved from the port by truck to Al Khafji and on to Al Nuwaiseeb, with the broker handling the transit formalities on the Saudi side as Saudi customs require for goods in transit, followed by the Kuwaiti formalities on arrival.

Transit calls for close coordination between three parties: the ocean carrier’s agent releasing the container or cargo at the port, the broker preparing the transit declaration, and the road haulier collecting and delivering. Al Rahwan takes care of the whole road leg and coordinates with the broker; for that it needs the bill of lading from the sea leg, the invoice and packing list for the goods, and who the Kuwaiti importer is. Customs fixes the conditions and time limits for transit cargo according to the rules applying on the day, so each such consignment is reviewed before it reaches the port, not after.

Air freight from Dammam to Kuwait for urgent shipments

When a shipment cannot afford an extra day – official papers, a spare part for a machine standing idle, a medical device, a suitcase a traveller left behind – air freight is the answer. Al Rahwan hands it to the airline at King Fahd International in Dammam, it lands at Kuwait International, and the recipient has it 24–48 hours after we collected it, at a starting rate of SAR 28 for each chargeable kilo.

Urgent parcels prepared by a shipping company from Dammam to Kuwait for air freight from King Fahd Airport
Air freight from Dammam to Kuwait

Airlines do not just weigh a box; they also work out what its size ought to weigh, and bill whichever number is bigger. Multiply the three sides in centimetres and divide by 6000. A box measuring 50, 40 and 30 cm comes out at 10 kg on that formula, so although the scale may say only 6 kg, you pay for ten: 10 × 28 = SAR 280 as the starting cost. That is why, for air, we recommend a carton cut exactly to the contents: you pay for every bit of empty space.

Air freight does not suit furniture or large appliances, and it accepts flammable liquids, perfume in quantity and large batteries only with declaration and approval. What it does suit is light, urgent and valuable cargo.

Road, air or sea? A comparison for Dammam shipments

Mode Transit From Best for Not for
Road via Al Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb 1–2 days (cars 2–4) SAR 140 per carton, SAR 6.5 per kg Homes, furniture, cars, cartons, trade goods Shipments that must arrive within hours
Air from King Fahd Airport 24–48 hours SAR 28 per chargeable kg Papers, spare parts, small devices, urgent suitcases Furniture and heavy loads
Sea from King Abdulaziz Port Per sailing schedule SAR 4,600 for a 20 ft container Large commercial containers House moves and small shipments

From the Eastern Province, road is the right answer in most cases: close, direct and without changing mode. Air complements it; many families move the house by road and send a bag of important papers and small devices by air so they have them on arrival day.

Documents needed to ship from Dammam to Kuwait

Every personal shipment starts from the same four papers: your national ID or iqama copy, a written list of what is inside, an e-authorisation for the broker through Fasah, and who is receiving it in Kuwait with full contact details. The rest depends on the type of shipment:

Shipment type Documents
Personal effects and household goods ID or iqama copy, the packing list, the broker’s Fasah authorisation, then the receiver’s name and mobile with governorate, area, block, street, house, floor and lift; sometimes their civil ID copy as well
Cartons and parcels Copy of ID, description and count of contents, recipient details, and invoices for new devices where available
Commercial goods Sender’s CR, the trade invoice and packing list, the Kuwaiti importer’s details, and a certificate of origin if asked
Car Istimara, number plates and export certificate; ID of the registered owner; the finance company’s consent if a loan is outstanding; a signed authorisation when a third party delivers the car; and the Kuwaiti receiver’s civil ID copy
Transit Ocean bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, importer’s details in Kuwait

Kuwaiti addresses follow their own order – governorate first, area second, then block, street and house – and for flats you add the floor and say if a lift exists. This level of detail is not a formality; it is what lets the driver go straight to the door.

Customs at the Al Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb crossings

Leaving Saudi Arabia, the broker Al Rahwan uses files the shipment on Fasah – the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority’s portal – on the strength of an e-authorisation you grant. This authorisation is completed before loading, so the truck reaches Al Khafji with the declaration ready. Entering Kuwait, the paperwork is closed off by customs at Al Nuwaiseeb, whose officers can ask for cartons to be opened.

How used household goods and vehicles are handled on entry is up to Kuwaiti customs, under the rules applying when you ship. Don’t go by stories people tell about earlier shipments or on figures passed around; ask Al Rahwan before booking about your particular shipment, and declare everything clearly on the list. A complete declaration does not delay a shipment; an undeclared item does.

Prohibited and restricted items for Kuwait

Some items cannot be shipped at all, and others can only travel with a declaration or approval. Customs has the final word, but the general list is:

  • Not accepted at all: anything that burns or explodes (gas bottles and fuel included), firearms and their rounds, drugs, dangerous chemicals and fake branded goods.
  • Only with a declaration or prior approval: drones, radio transmitters, big batteries, bulk medicines, live plants, and food that must stay chilled.

Common slips in Eastern Province homes: a barbecue gas cylinder left in the storeroom and packed with everything else, jerrycans of petrol for a generator or boat, or garden pesticides. All of these are removed before loading, so point them out to the crew during the survey.

Insurance, tracking and storage

Insuring your shipment

Insurance is optional and arranged at the booking stage. Cover is calculated on the value you state and the photographed inventory, appears as a separate charge in the quote, and its price depends on what is being shipped and what it is worth, set after the survey. What actually makes insurance useful is the photos and the signed inventory: they prove each item’s condition before loading.

Tracking from Dammam to your door

Al Rahwan sends you four notifications: at loading, when the shipment crosses the Saudi border, on arrival in Kuwait and on delivery. Between these points you can call the same number to ask where the shipment is.

Storage before departure or after arrival

Some customers need to store their furniture for days or weeks: an employee whose Khobar lease has ended before the Kuwait housing is ready, or a family that has reached Kuwait to find the home not yet available. Al Rahwan can hold your goods either side of the border, still wrapped and numbered exactly as they were loaded; its price is worked out after the survey from the volume stored and the number of days.

How to book shipping from Dammam to Kuwait

  1. Call or send a request: 0568829975 daily from 7 am to 11 pm, or online at any time, giving your district in the Eastern Province, the governorate in Kuwait and the type of shipment.
  2. Survey: a free visit or a video call, and the inventory is recorded.
  3. Quote: itemised by transport, packing, dismantling and reassembly, car and insurance if requested.
  4. Documents and authorisation: you send ID copies and recipient details and authorise the broker on Fasah.
  5. Packing and loading day: the crew arrives on time, packs, dismantles and loads, and you sign the inventory.
  6. Crossing: Al Khafji, then Al Nuwaiseeb, with a notification at each point.
  7. Delivery and assembly: at your address in Kuwait, followed by checking against the list and signing.

Delivery in Kuwait’s six governorates

A truck coming from Al Nuwaiseeb reaches southern Kuwait first, which makes Ahmadi Governorate the natural first stop, followed by Mubarak Al Kabeer, Hawalli and the Capital, then Farwaniya and Jahra. Delivery includes unloading, setting up, assembly and arranging in every governorate.

Governorate Example areas Delivery note
Ahmadi Fahaheel, Mangaf, Fintas, Mahboula, Wafra, Sabah Al Ahmad Closest to the Al Nuwaiseeb road; many buildings in Mahboula and Fintas need a lift booking
Mubarak Al Kabeer Sabah Al Salem, Adan, Qurain, Messila Mostly houses, and the streets take a full-size truck
Hawalli Hawalli, Salmiya, Jabriya, Rumaithiya, Mishref, Bayan Dense in Salmiya and Hawalli; a morning slot is best
Capital Kuwait City, Shuwaikh, Dasma, Kaifan, Shamiya Towers and offices need building management approval before the date
Farwaniya Farwaniya, Khaitan, Jleeb Al Shuyoukh, Rabiya, Ardiya Many flats in apartment blocks; send the floor number and whether there is a lift
Jahra Jahra, Saad Al Abdullah, Abdali Farthest from the Al Nuwaiseeb road; scheduled at the end of the delivery run or by special appointment

Estimating your own shipping cost before you call

Before you call, four questions will tell you roughly where your cost will land:

  1. What size is the move? Starting points run 1,350 for a room, 1,390 for a small flat, 2,300 for three bedrooms and 3,700 for a villa, all in riyals.
  2. Any vehicles? A sedan on the shared carrier adds SAR 920; a 4×4 adds SAR 1,100.
  3. Any special items? A piano, antiques, large chandeliers or marble need crates or special packing, priced after the survey.
  4. Is your date flexible? If so, a part load from SAR 1,290 may be enough for a small home; if it is fixed, a dedicated truck is the better fit.

Add the figures and you will be close to your actual starting cost. The gap between this estimate and the final quote usually comes from dismantling, reassembly and floors, all shown line by line in the quote.

The cheapest way to ship from Dammam to Kuwait: shared loads

Half a truckload should not cost a full truck. On a shared run, your goods ride alongside other customers’ consignments bound for Kuwait and everyone pays a share of the trip. Part loads begin at SAR 1,290, individual cartons at SAR 140, and bulkier quantities by weight at SAR 6.5 a kilo.

  • Who it suits: students, single employees, anyone sending part of their belongings ahead of a move, and small shops.
  • How your shipment stays separate: every carton carries your name, number and the recipient’s code, shipments are separated inside the truck and checked on unloading.
  • The trade-off: a flexible departure date, because the truck waits until it is full, though transit after loading stays at one to two days.

Slip-ups that cost time or money

  • Leaving the Fasah authorisation until loading day: the truck waits instead of leaving.
  • An incomplete address in Kuwait: “near the co-op” is not enough; area, block, street and house are needed.
  • Leaving items inside a car being shipped: it slows the inspection at the border.
  • Not mentioning the floor and lift at both ends: the crew turns up smaller than the job needs.
  • Shipping what is not worth it: old furniture that costs more to move than it is worth; sort it before the survey, not after.
  • Forgetting to book the service lift in a Kuwait building: the crew stands for hours outside a building that will not let them in.
  • Packing cartons yourself without numbering them: a long search for the kitchen box on the first night.
  • Shipping at peak holiday times without booking early: slots fill up, so book at least two weeks ahead.

How to choose a shipping company from Dammam to Kuwait

There are plenty of companies in the Eastern Province, and the difference between them does not show in the advert but in the details. Ask any company these questions before booking and compare the answers:

  • Do you survey before quoting? A phone price for a whole home with no survey means surprises on loading day.
  • Is the quote itemised? Transport, packing, dismantling and reassembly and insurance, each on its own line.
  • Who handles clearance at Al Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb? And is the authorisation done before loading?
  • Is there an assembly crew in Kuwait? Or is the furniture dropped at the door and that is that?
  • Will I get a signed inventory and photos before loading?
  • How is the shipment tracked? Is there a notification at every stage?
  • What truck crosses the border? A closed box truck, or an open one under a tarpaulin?

Why Eastern Province customers choose Al Rahwan for Kuwait

  • The right route from the start: every Eastern Province shipment via Al Khafji and Al Nuwaiseeb, with no detours.
  • One team from home to home: survey, packing, dismantling, loading and assembly in Kuwait.
  • Published starting prices: from SAR 37 for a small parcel to SAR 7,800 for a 40 ft container, plus an itemised quote after the survey.
  • Your car with your home: shared, dedicated or enclosed carrier, timed to match the household move.
  • Every kind of shipping: road, sea and air, for individuals, traders and institutions, to every country in the world, not only Kuwait.
  • Four tracking notifications: loading, the Saudi border, arrival and delivery.
  • Reachable most of the day: phones answered 7 am–11 pm every day, and the online form never closes.

Kuwait is far from Al Rahwan’s only destination: from Dammam it ships by road, sea and air across the Gulf and to every other country too, but Kuwait stays near the top of Eastern Province bookings because it is so close and so many families and businesses straddle both sides. The wider view, covering every Saudi city and both crossings, is on Shipping Company from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait; residents of Hofuf or Mubarraz have their own page: Shipping Company from Al Ahsa to Kuwait.

Field tips for shipping from Dammam

  • Photograph before packing: every valuable piece, every appliance, and the car from all sides.
  • Give the weight and volume honestly: an underestimate disrupts loading and changes the quote on the day.
  • Keep an arrival bag with you: a few changes of clothes, your medication, phone chargers and key documents travel in your own hands.
  • Set aside what will fly: anything you need on arrival day can go by air from King Fahd Airport.
  • Time the car with the furniture: if you are flying in, have the car leave two days before you.
  • Check the building’s moving days: ask the building management which days moves are allowed before you fix the delivery date.
